Greetings to all Suffering Dawgs Fans,

It has been an interesting week in Athens. Traffic is at an all time high. Each major intersection is blocked with the “Chicken Little –The Sky is falling or as some say has already fell” The second corner is held down by the “Sunshine Pumpers” all is well “Stay the Course” Group. The third has Libs giving more away this coming election. The fourth corner has a guy in an Uncle Sam costume passing out Tea Bags. Welcome to the Classic City!

I lived in Chattanooga from 1977 to 2003. There was electricity and excitement in the air each and every time the Vols and Dawgs got it on. “That was then”.

This weekend with a home game against the Pumpkin People and both teams have losing records, no national TV coverage. Each team has found ways to lose ballgames late in the fourth quarter. This may be the longest game in SEC history. Keystone cops between the hedges. Lewis Grizzard would say it is like two mules fighting over a turnip. “This is now”

I have just learned that the UGA Athletic Department will be offering a free course to the Dawgs fans called “Pain and Anger Management” A Guide to understanding the UGA 2010 Football Season. The first class will be held at 10:00 AM in Reedy Plaza prior to kickoff.

We will win in three OT’s on a BW field goal - maybe? Refuse to concede anything to the Urange (Buc’s spelling – I like it -thanks). How are we a double-digit favorite?

“Both optimists and pessimists contribute to society. The optimist invents the airplane, the pessimist invents the parachute”. — George Bernard Shaw

I need to make a trip to the Varsity for a large FO (Frozen Orange) might help the Dawgs ice the Vols!

Have a safe weekend and as always “Go Dawgs”

Homerun yankeedawg1. This game is the perfect match for a lot of "penalties". Hope not. Watched the LSU/UT game last week, Simms can be dangerous. He is gutty and can pass.

Need this one.

We are double digit favorites because.......UAB took UT to overtimes and missed FIVE field goals during regulation. UAB just got CLOCKED by UCF this week 42-7.....uh, UCF is 3-2.

See your point wlayton, but... brain fart costed them them LSU game. As Buc pointed out Simms can burn our drafty secondary.

I just hope we can catch a break as I don't want to hear it from the folks back in Chatt Town.

LSU is overrated....only their D is good, very good. Their offense is HORRIBLE. We will score on UT.......other post I predicted a 34-24 win. (almost covers 11 1/2 point Vegas line).

Totally understand where you are coming from yankeedawg. I live in Knoxville. Got reminded what happened last year as I walked in to the office this morning.

As for the game, I believe it will probably be a close one. Kind of sad really. Lot of talent on this UGA team, I think? Simms is tough. Seems to never lose his head due to the punishment he takes. They got their best receiver back last week against LSU, and have some young guys that could make a difference at WR. One was supposed to be wearing the G on his helmet. RB is a hard runner, and supposedly he is bitter because he is a Georgia kid who was not offered by UGA.

Players and coaches feel like the fan base is not totally behind them. Here is how they change it. Play the game with great hustle, passion, and discipline. Players feel fans are backing them because wins or losses. I really don't think that is the main reason though. I think the sluggish and passive football they have been playing is the reason fans are frustrated. At times, it looks like effort maybe be there, but the heart is not, if that makes sense.

Enough with that. I am not going to make a prediction because it hasn't ended the way I would like so far this year.

Here are my advantages:

QB- UGA Simms is a tough kid, but AM is one of kind. Incredible player and he is only a frosh
RB- Draw - UGA has more depth and talent, but UT's backs have held onto the football.
WR- UGA. AJ Green. enough said.
OL- Draw. UGA is supposed to be better, but I haven't seen it this year. UT is young. Both QB's have been hit too many times.

DL- UT. Product of elimination. UGA DL has been a non factor this year. Walker kid from UT is a nice player.
LB- UT. UGA has a lot more talent. UT has more discipline and LB's make a lot more plays.
DB- Draw- Same explanation as the LB's

ST- UGA- Butler, Walsh, and Boykin. ALl very good.

Shouldn't be a close game, but I am just about going to guarantee it will be.
