Stumbled on this.

Perdue, who played for Georgia in the 1960s, said Monday the team needs more “intensity” and must get “serious about winning.”

“I hope it’s temporary,” he said at a news conference that was about politics until someone noted Georgia is 0-3 so far in the Southeastern Conference.

“I love Coach (Mark) Richt,” said the former high school and college quarterback, who now calls plays for state government.

But Perdue, who recently gave an inspirational talk to the fledgling Georgia State University team, had only tough love for his alma mater.

“There is a level of intensity that we’ve got to demonstrate for the rest of the season,” said Perdue, who had a cameo role in the film, “We are Marshall.”

The governor said the Dawgs must “let the fans … know we’re serious about winning.”

“We have a national championship threshold,” he said, “and we ought to be dissatisfied every season that doesn’t happen.”

Hey Buc, maybe Richt will listen to him, since he's obviously been "in the arena".

sadlerdawg, with comments like "in the arena" . . . shows that UGA has some coaching problems. Hard to dodge a bullet when the cameras are running. From here on out, there is no hiding, everyone is watching.

Appears that MR has painted himself into a corner. Kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

He was responsible for WM and MB. Some say keep him on in a CEO position. Don't want him sitting in that seat based on his performance in hiring and performance the last several years. When it appeared that he was working wonders, he was rewarded handsomely for that.

A lot of what happens with Richt is going to be watched closely as to what this recruiting class does. He probably gets another year, unless he decides that he wants to take his life in another direction.

Governor starts talking, like him or not, he carries a lot of weight. This will get worse before it gets better.

Remember in '06 when Perdue called out the AJC for running the headline "Tennessee puts 'dogs in their place"? Classic.

I don't have the stats at the moment but with the exception of last year, hasn't UGA recruiting classes been ranked in the top 10 for many years?

What about Alabama?
LSU?
Florida?
Auburn?

So the talent is there. Now you just have to have someone that will improve upon that talent and use it.

I wonder what CNS would have done with the UGA football program?
CUM?
CLM?

Where would it be if one of those guys were hired as the UGA HC?
