Was it just me, or did Florida look like they had about four or five more guys on the field than Ohio State did the entire game? The Buckeyes had NO answer for Florida whatsoever. As much as I rejoice for the SEC(remember all the Tuberville whining earlier on in the year about how the SEC would never have a national champion?), I now have to live with Gators fans for the next 12 months.

I'm also terrified of the Cocktail Party next year. Bowl games build momentum, and just as bad as the Florida offense looked all season long, that's how good they looked against Ohio State. Leak completed something like his first 8 passes. Tebow threw a touchdown. Harvin and Baker were always open.

Then again, we weren't supposed to beat Auburn this year...GO DAWGS!

Just in terms of history (and I'm sure GatorInGa will inform us of this when he comes down from his cloud):

Florida is the first school to ever hold the NCAA Men's Basketball and football national championships at the same time.

They did it on the tenth anniversary of their first national championship, which also came with one loss, and against the undefeated #1-ranked team in the country.

They also did it on the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the football program at UF (est. 1906).

dapolla, don't be so worried about the Cocktail party next year. UF loses about 18 (?) seniors plus some underclassmen will move on to the draft (GatorinGa can verify the senior #'s). They will be good next year but not nearly as strong as this year (minor rebuilding in a few positions). Instead, look forward in the next couple of years to playing THAT game.

The Gators loose almost the entire defense. No kidding, maybe everyone but one player.
The offensive line is all comming back as well as Percy Harvin and some exciting new recievers that are better that what we have now .. and of course Tebow at QB.

Yeah, but Ohio State lost its entire defense and looked pretty darn good this year...till Florida, that is.

More history: The last two times a major rival(here I include Florida, Tech and Auburn...I don't think Tennessee became one until, oh, about 2004) won the national championship, we beat them the next year.

1990: Tech splits with Colorado. 1991: Georgia beats Tech
1996: Florida wins NC. 1997: Georgia beats Florida

After watching Michigan and UF, don't think OSU reloaded on defense this year like everybody thought. Could you believe that OSU NEVER adjusted to UF's short passing game? Their LB's and DB's were 10-12 yards back on the snap, every play. With UF's speed='s first down after first down, cakewalk for UF's scheme. OSU's defensive (zone) scheme was awful..........AND SLOW, VERY SLOW>
