UGA has 2 on the list - remember both very well - one good - one bad

Jan. 2, 1984: No. 2 Texas led No. 7 Georgia 9-3 late in the Cotton Bowl. Texas coach Fred Akers, fearing a fake punt, left his defense in the game. When Georgia punted, defensive back Craig Curry, not a punt returner, tried to field it. Georgia recovered the fumble at the Longhorn 23. The Bulldogs scored three plays later. No. 1 Nebraska lost that night to Miami, which twisted the knife. The wound didn't begin to heal until coach Mack Brown arrived 15 years later.

Jan. 1, 1983: This was the last game for the greatest Bulldog, and the guy some would argue was the greatest college player ever: Herschel Walker. Georgia had gone 33-2 with Herschel in silver britches, including winning the 1980 national title. The No. 1 Dawgs were 11-0 and headed into what most believed would be a coronation in the Sugar Bowl. But instead of capping off a dynastic run, Georgia's defense surrendered more points than it had since 1979. And beloved coach Vince Dooley never again came close to winning a title.

I was at that game and remember VERY WELL watching Dan Marino hit his TE on our goal line from about 30 yards out on 4th and ten with less than a minute to play (approximately). Clemson went on to win the Orange Bowl and the NC.

Total devastation!!!  :(

Sorry to correct you, wlayton, but you were at the 1982 Sugar Bowl, when the 'Dawgs lost to Pitt while Clemson won the Orange Bowl and the MNC. The '83 Sugar Bowl was for the national title between UGA and Penn State. Paterno took home his first title that year.
