Good Morning to All,
Here are my take a ways from this year’s G-Game. With very little of our playbook shown this was not dazzle the crowd play calling.
CTG and his “D”. CTG is a very intense and vocal sideline coach. A thing of beauty to watch. Practice or game he is into each play. He was charged to see the Bulldog Nation come out to support and cheer. This is a growing love affair from the first play.
I spent my time zoned on the number one “D”. It won’t be long before the rest of the college football world starts to comment on our updated Junkyard defense. No we are still a short ways to go before reaching the level of Bama’s current “D”. But by midseason this gap will close. This “D” works as a unit not just one or two stars. When the ball is snapped it can best be said all hell breaks loose at extreme speed.
D=backs no soft coverage, AJ had just one open deep route, remember this was against # 2 defense and the ball was over thrown. This was in part to a hurry by the D line rushing. Linebacker play was excellent in pass coverage and run support.
Come time to play in Jacksonville this “D” will be game ready for any team in the SEC.
Question ? Out of all the coaches that passed on the DC job- Kirby included could any of them done better than CTG ? We have the right man at the right time. Players have signed on big time. My gut tells me that the job Monty did last year in TN will be passed by our CTG both former NFL playoff coaches. Thank you CMG for waiting and not hitting the panic button.
CMR said it best last week, he likes what he sees at the QB position. Much has been said and will be said going forward about each of the three. All three Saturday did blue collar work. AM one bad throw for a pick. His own words, taking a sack would have been a better choice than forcing. The “O” will be fine come gameday.
In closing, this is a better coached team. Only one flag for the game. O/S by a non-started. Huge improvement! Now it is time to enjoy the summer, yardwork is calling today. Have to keep wife happy.
Thanks for 38,000 plus who joined me. It was eerie to sit in the south stands and look across at the north side of the field, empty due to construction on the new fan plaza. I was blessed to have another day between the hedges. As always “Go Dawgs”!
Go Dawgs!
