averagedawg, thought about starting a new thread, however . . . . rather than ask a question about our new coaching help on the defensive side of the ball . . . .
Not for a second do I think that Coach Grantham and the hires he has made since joining hands with Coach Richt and UGA would have happened if Coach Grantham did not see the talent and talent base that exists around Athens. He has said that more than once. Not like CTG could not have been employed elsewhere.
This is not a defensive coach that talks out of his rear, he understands defense, played HIS WAY. Apparently Coach Richt bought into what Coach Grantham and his supporters had to say. Don't believe it folks, check out the wages. This coach comes to UGA on a mission. He was very secure in his job with Jerry Jones.
Have to say this . . . . I am glad that the two or three (whatever the number) before Coach Grantham was interviewed, remained in their secure places. There is a mystery about Coach Grantham that all of us have hitched our wagon to. If you have not hitched your wagon to the last statement, please leave this post. This post is for believers, Junkyard Dawgs, that type of believer.
We have known for several years that we had talent in Athens, what pray tell happened . . . I think I know. We slipped at the TOP, and slipped badly. We were gaga with top five recruiting classes, best athletes anywhere. We are not going to let that happen again, the change in Athens is huge, only survivors will be those folks (coaches and players) that want to go on to bigger and better things.
Speaking of bigger and better. . . .watch the recruiting efforts now that we are in a 3/4. Defense is supposed to win championships . . . Saban believes that. One of his disciples is now residing in Athens. Anyone question what Saban has done in Tuscaloosa . . . not me.
Coach Grantham and his cohorts will only make this team better. Not only the defense, the offense. I would keep my eye open come spring if I am on the offensive side of the ball. That Junkyard Dawg is back, and it has teeth. Looking forward to UT. Welcome to Athens urange. . . .
Going to the islands for a few days beginning tomorrow Brothers and Sisters, will check back with you next week. Tired of this cold weather in Florida.
