\"Fran the Man\" went to a team that had a coach by the name of Norm Van Brocklin, later the head coach of the Falcons. (Did not like Harmon Wages UF, had an eye ball meeting with him in the head at practice). Both of us know that NVB was a tough sob that won the NFL Championship in the early 60's while playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fran was the beginning of the \"mobile QB\" in the NFL and that is a fact. He did not have an arm, meaning that his \"scrambles\" made up for the lack of arm strength. Did not do bad for a \"preachers son\".

Those days are gone. Athletes are stronger, faster and better coached than athletes of that era.

Yeah Buc, I remember when Fran drew up a 4th down play in the huddle against Auburn (also believe it was the last play of the game) that won the game and the SEC title. He rolled to his right and threw the ball back across the field to his left in the end zone I believe to Theron Sapp (?) for the TD. My parents were at the game and I remember I was kicking the football around in the front yard when they came home. They were sooooo pumped, even after the long drive that next day.

I am glad to stop hearing about Brett Favre.

Buc, I always wondered what the big deal was with scrambling QB's? Fran was my first football hero, and he was a scrambler. Defenses had a heck of a time defending him.
