Tremendous defensive battle. 53-50? That's a score you should see between two terrible teams, not between two top-ten SEC powerhouses. Just shows you how much influence defense has on a basketball game.
Folks, we haven't beaten Tennessee in Stegeman since 2000. We haven't beaten them at all since 2004. This is a TREMENDOUS victory for the whole university. And when you look at the rest of our schedule, the only teams that should really give us trouble are Kentucky (who took us to overtime before we beat them 61-60) and LSU, who've already lost to Nebraska, Ole Miss and Auburn. You're looking, ladies and gents, at a one- or two-loss regular season, a regular season SEC title (which would be our first since 2000) and, with wins over Oklahoma, Rutgers, Tennessee and possibly LSU and a good showing in the SEC tournament, you're also looking at a #2 or #3 seed in the NCAA tourney. With all of those things and an SEC tourney title -- totally possible if we stay on our game against UT and don't wet the bed against Vandy again -- you're looking at a #1 seed.
Who says it has to be Stanford-UConn in the title game? Who's to say it won't be UConn-UGA?
Who's to say?
