2010 A GREAT YEAR

Have been watching some of the new players on UGA's squad on film since they arrived on campus.

Players like Jakar Hamilton, Kolton Houston.

It is incredible the electricity that is in the air with the changes that have been made on the defensive coaching side. Jakar is going to be outstanding.

Kolton of course has the same feeling about Coach Searels, calls him the best offensive line coach in the country. Know that averagedawg feels that way about Coach Searels. As do I.

Can you imagine what Spring Football is going to be like with Coach Searels and Coach Grantham lining their troops up and having at it. Scary. Going to make both sides of the ball better and ready for what the SEC brings.

I have been around UGA football for a long time, don't think that I have witnessed players being this pumped up for many years (if ever) on BOTH sides of the ball. We as fans and alumni have been incredibly excited about the new hires, the players top us I think.

I am on record saying that Jakar Hamilton is going to be a very special player for the Red and Black, after watching his recent interview, (1/20/2010) totally convinced that he is a head hunter. Erk would have loved this guy. Davis, Blue type of player, with SPEED.

Amazing that a few coaching changes have had such a dramatic effect on all of us, students, players and fans. Think that it just goes to show how one or two rotten apples in the barrel can spoil the cider. Don't mean that to be ugly, the past is the past, however it is true.

One thread here asks for predictions on the upcoming year. Ready for this . . . . will not be surprised if we win out. We have the talent, now the coaching, and for sure the support to be more than a handful for any team on our schedule. Any team needs breaks to pull that feat off, have one example to this point . . . . who would have bet their paycheck that the JETS would be where they are at this point . . . . UGA is going to be outstanding.

Haven't mentioned the kicking or punting (wow) . . . . . If you have thoughts on a particular player, let's talk about it, kill some time between now and signing day.

Not worried about 2011 at this point, 2010 looks winnable to me. Go Dawgs! :woohoo:

With you on Jakar (J-Ham, huugghhh!!). (wait, let's call him Jak-Ham) after Jack Hamm.

He is athletic enough to return kicks also. means he can be a playmaker. Remember watching Rambo when he got some playing time. Didin't he lead all DB's in picks even though he didn't start???? means he has a nose for the ball.

If Rambo and JHam can start back there with Boykin and B. Smith at the CB's, man, what a defensive backfield. We should be able to go man, rush 5, and still leave 4 zoned players with the 2 CB's man.

No throwing lanes. No WR open.
Or heck, bring four and leave 7 back with two WR's blanketed.

Someone convince me that our two RB's are the answer. I am still not 100% sold. was the last few games a mirage? or the real thing? I would still love to get Lattimore but not gonna happen.

I think QB is the only hurdle to jump, and can't imagine that it will be anything to worry about after spring training. Thats almost always been a steady position with the exception of a couple years, can't believe it will be much of a hurdle though, some fine talent to choose from this year and we all have reason to be excited.

I think our relative weakness will be LB. Think we have too many nguys who haven't progressed under Willie and the boys. Hopefully, TG will shape them up.

Buc, I've heard rumors that Tennessee is making a run at Coach Searels.
I can only hope there's no truth to it.

Good Point slide . . . .

One thing that I purposely did in the thread was raise the JETS as an example. Thinking that you picked up on that.

There was a lot of hoopla about the USC QB starting there at the beginning of the year. Started great, then hit a couple of rough spots and many thought the sky was falling.

So what happened . . . . the coaching staff took some of the added weight of the press and the system off of his shoulders and what happened . . . . he threw less, started looking the defense off and using the running game more. Proves to me that good COACHING can not only affect the game, can have a positive effect on the player and the team.

Trust me, AM is not only bright, he has the tools. Hell yes he will make mistakes, wish he had played some last season. This is the key for me . . . . the coaches know him, his personality and his talents. This young man knows this offense, (we did not replace the offensive coach or head coach) the offense is understood by Murray. Anyone thinks that you have to be 6'5\" to play QB, we have issues with each other.

One more point . . . . if our new DC(Coach Grantham) can produce the same effects as the JETS head coach, who is a defensive guru . . . . what a wonderful problem to have.

Also, I am not a JETS fan, do like to watch their 3/? work.

One last statement . . . Abry Jones . . . . watch. 6'3\" 290, 3 man front, we will see. Folks, time to get upbeat and look at what WE HAVE. Remember this, there is a new sheriff in town. . . . Go Dawgs!

:woohoo: :woohoo:
