wlayton, a couple quick questions for you. In the 3-4 you have to have a big mean DT to control the middle, you also have to be deep at LB. GT has a redshirt Freshman named JC Lanier who is 6-4 320+. Thats an ideal person to have in the middle, kinda the Terrance Cody type. Just wondering if UGA has somebody to fill that spot, and if UGAs LB's will be ready for that switch. You guys know UGA better than I do, thats why Im asking.

We don’t have anyone like Cody, but nobody else does either. However I feel that most of our defensive tackles (though a little light) could do it. Also we have 300+ pounder Kwame Gaethers that redshirted this year.

As far as LB's......

I think so. Dent, Williams, Gamble, Dowtin, and Christian Robinson are back and were already playing a lot. They also have Vasser, Hebron, and Gilliard there, not including the incoming freshmen. Don’t be surprised if Shawn Williams and Alec Ogletree (incoming freshman) play LB instead of safety. They also will most likely have leaner guys like Justin Houston, Cornelius Washington and Montez Robinson play a rush LB if we switch to a 3-4. I think Grantham will look at our personnel rather than blindly saying that we’re running a 3-4 instead of a 4-3. However I think we’ll run a 3-4. I think the 3-4 will be more effective against the spread offense (see Alabama vs. UF). I’m not worried about it.
