Lewis Grizzard once said “ American by birth – Southerner by the grace of God”. I left the cold of upstate NY Feb 1976 for Chattanooga. For 23 years I was blessed to work most of the SE from Chatt. This provided the opportunity to sample a buffet of SEC football.
I learned about ribs at Dreamland and Calhoun’s on the river. Peeled shrimp on the banks of the St.Johns and one day I spent a week in Auburn.
After being laid off my job in Chattanooga God blessed me with the opportunity to relocate to a small Georgia town.
This will be my seventh year here in Athens I give thanks to be part of such a loyal fan base the best in all college football. Fear not for those weak hearts the best is ahead. With the coming of a new DC and UGA VIII plus a load of new pups just pulling on the leash.
I have read this blog for over a year and felt now is the time to join in, WM is gone, get ready to turn the page and make new history.
Start planning now; let’s make this year G-Game a record for attendance.
It’s Saturday in Athens and the Big Dawg is off the chain.
thanks for the kind words of welcome to all of you. I would really like to start a grass roots or call it a surge to get as many people to this years G-Game to send a message. You don't want to mess with a wounded dog, having licked are wounds we all know what is going to get the bad taste of 09 gone. The beast of the SEC East will live in zip code 30606. Blessed to be a Dawg fan.
Wish I was in Athens too. I told my wife (gator fan) that when we retire we are moving. She wasn't hip to the idea until I actually convinced her to go to a game with me. I attended my first GA game in Athens when we played Central Michigan. My wife dressed in neutral colors, but there was a play when Knowshon hurdled a defender trying to tackle him and kept on going. Happened right in front of us and I thought I was going to have to hold her down in her chair she got so excited. She'll be wearing red and black before it's over. Man is it September yet?
