Mike Vick Gets Award For Courage?

Now I have truly seen it all, I cannot believe they gave vick of all people an award for courage. I guess it takes alot of courage to torcher and kill dogs, and then Lie to your team owner and teammates and fans and then do damage to the whole franchise. No wonder things are how they are today, when our children now see people being rewarded for wrong doing. And dont get me wrong I am no saint but I cant believe there is no one else they could have chosen for this award!!

I understand what your saying. At what point though do you give a man a second chance. He owned up to his crimes (eventually). Served a prison term and is keeping his nose clean. What he did was wrong, I wouldn't trust him to watch my dog. I do think he should be given a second chance. Take what he does at face value. A man who made some major mistakes in his life and is trying to turn it around.

I hear what your saying, He has got a great 2nd chance already for getting his job back in the NFL making plenty of money and fame. If me or you did what he did we still would be in jail and I am sure when we got out we wouldnt be getting our job back, we would be at QT or walmart where the rest of the former convicts work. IMO he has already got a great 2nd chance, and he is barely out of prison So he hasnt had to much time to do anything wrong yet. And his atitude was very arrogant after that falcons game. I just think he hasnt even been out that long, and surely there is a player that has come back from injury or done somthing worth while that is more deserving other than mike vick, He hasnt even been out a yr!!!

I'm going out on a limb here and saying that his award had nothing to do with his crimes. And if that's the case, what's the point of that post? The man did his time. And to your counterpoint, if you or I had committed those crimes, there's no way we'd have to jump through the hoops he has to to regain his reputation. PETA wouldn't be crawling up our backsides the way they are with him. If he won an award for courage, let's talk about that. The idea, however, that Mike Vick could not earn an award for courage because he is a convicted fellon is hyperbole. It's also a non-sequitur in that the award has nothing to do with his former conviction. Why continue to bash him?

My point is, what courage does it take to come out of prison and go into the NFL, 99% of prisoners come out to little or nothing and cant find any work, much less the money and glamour of the NFL, So what courage does that take? How many real men in the NFL were looked over, So the political correct in the media can get another chance to kiss Mike Vicks backside. To me Courage is Warrick Dunn who gives houses to the less fortunate or someone who comes back from cancer to play again or injury or what have you, Not someone who for yrs an yrs gambled on dog fighting and having drugs in there house and torchering animals, and then once they are caught they are sorry, I wasnt born yesterday, he is sorry because he got caught and now his lawyers have coached him up for the media because the NFL thinks they can make money off of him its plain and simple. It takes no courage to come out of prison and go to the NFL. Please, Give the award to a NFL player who truly deserves it! It cheapens the award now for him to get it. If he was truly a changed man he would give it to someone who deserves it!!
