Best & most honest statement I've seen on here in a while. The only thing I'd add to that is that we haven't seen any rebuilding in the coaching department of UGA......yet. You can bet your bottom dollar that will happen after this season

I want to see CMR get some fire in his belly and show us he really wants to be the head coach of a winning program and he expects the best
Yep, you and the rest of us! But I came to realize a while back that CMR isn't that type of coach, so I'm not upset anymore when I don't see him get into the game. I liken Richt to Tony Dungy, very stoic and very emotionless. The biggest burst of emotion I've ever seen out of Richt - right, wrong or indifferent - was the FL endzone celebration in 2007. And of course, when that happened, what did some in the Bulldog nation say: \"Ohhhh, we're above that. Oh we don't need to do that. Oh we act like it's the first TD we've ever scored. Come on CMR, be a little more classy.\" Then you had the national media pile on and bitch and moan about CMR pulling a \"classless stunt.\" He's damned if he does damned if he doesn't in that regard. I for one don't want to see Mark Richt out there slinging his headset down, kicking over Gatorade jugs, throwing playbooks down acting like a little pissed off child who didn't get his way.
Ok, some points on the \"fire all the bastards\" commentary...
I understand the frustration. I really, really do. But I am not on the \"fire Mark Richt and give this entire coaching staff an enema\" bandwagon as of yet. It's going to be very difficult to justify, even for a program with the highest of expectations, firing a coach that continues to bring phenomenal recruiting classes, won 2 SEC Championships and has been to 8 bowl games. Am I ready to settle for that? No. Do I want more? Yes. Mark has done wonders for this program and by saying that, I'm not using that to give him a perpetual pass. He too shall be held accountable for his results, sooner rather than later if seasons like this keep up. But if you guys are tired of the results we're seeing, are you prepared to suffer through the introduction of an entire new system at UGA and the learning curve that it will require? At this point, I'm not. I'll give CMR more time and see if he can turn this ship around. He has the players, he has the talent, the offense scheme needs a makeover but the defense needs a complete overhaul.
I think Richt's longevity of his tenure at UGA will be determined by the upcoming offseason changes. It will be very interesting to see who he brings in to replace the coaching staff and it will also be very telling as to what direction we head in next season.
One final thought: I was almost stoned to death by some UGA friends of mine when I said that I would take losing out the rest of this season, including FL, to affect a coaching staff change to FINALLY get rid of the weak links in this chain, starting with Willie Martinez. Guess what, if we had an 8-4 season this year my guess is that Willie would
still have his job and we'd be sitting around for another season listening to Mark justify keeping Willie on board. Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom to see up and I believe we've hit rock bottom with this current group of defensive coaches.
Keep the faith, don't lose it.
