How come Gator fans have better perspective...

...on the trouble we are experiencing this year? I suppose it's a function of distance, of not loving something, so that you can impart a point of view that carries no emotion. Still, this post was by a gator fan on an AJC blog, and I think it's pretty sound reasoning.

WHAT IF TEBOW, SPIKES AND DEMPS WERE NOT PLAYING FOR FLORIDA THIS YEAR?

Pure speculation:
– FLORIDA is probably 6-2
– Finish the season 10-2 – Bama nails us in the sec title game
– Defense is keeping us in contention.
– Brantley prepares for 2010!

My point is UGA got caught WITH A TWO YEAR TRANSITION as Stafford, Moreno and Asher left early – and the transistion year for UGA should have been 2010. Now it is 2009 and 2010.

FLORIDA will be losing some key talent this year – will “reload” – but will possibly lose a few games next year as we transition to BRANTLEY.

TENNESSEE will need to find a QB – losing most their O-LINE and 5 defensive starters for 2010 (assuming Berry goes PRO).

UGA is only losing COX and WR M. MOORE off the Offense. Defense is losing Bryan Evans, but losing 2 starting D Lineman and key backup D-LINE Weston – (doubt Curran or Rashad Jones goes Pro)

SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
CYCLICAL GUYS – CYCLICAL!!!
UGA is returning most of the team.
TENNESSEE is losing quite a bit
FLORIDA is returing most of the team – but will need to tweak the offense for Brantley to be more like a CHRIS LEAK offense – so we will be in somewhat of an offensive transition.

What does UGA need to do?:
– Tweak the coaching staff – new DC
– Keep on recruiting – there is good YOUNG talent at UGA
– Focus on penalties and getting turnovers

RICHT should not be on the hotseat THIS year or next. If UGA is not competing with the SEC ELITE in 2011 – that is when he needs to be on the hotseat with 2012 being the pivitol year.

ALSO – TENNESSEE has BLOWN OUT UGA 3 of last 4 years. FLORIDA is not your only concern.

My nightmare is we win out. Willie gets a reprieve. Nothing changes.

UT blowing us out is exactly why RICHT should be on the hotseat. BAMA, and TECH made us look like idiots last year. The scores were close, but we were embarrassed in those games. Florida is not only winning, but winning big. I think everyone can handle losses. We play in the SEC. The way we lose is the reason for all of the moaning and groaning. Anyone can sugar coat it any way they want to. The bottom line is that we are not losing nail biters. We are getting man handled and that is a problem. Other fans do not have a better perspective. We all see it and actually know that we are in a transition year, but does that mean that we can not be competitive? Most of the games that I have spoke of were not in a transition year.

Sorry limey, not buying it. I agree that Myers isn't reaaly that good of a coach, that he has been living off Zook's recruits, and if Bowden ever leaves FSU then the gator program is sunk. But that still leaves Bama, LSU, and TN with outstanding coaching staffs who can spin silk purses from a sow's ear. Just because the gators become a has been after this season doesn't mean that the other three go away too. In order to compete for SEC crown UGA needs a significant coaching upgrade. Your problems are yours now. Much like FSU you'll be stuck with an adequate coach who lives off his past glory.

Swampdog, I hope your not serious about Meyer. Those are his recruits he is winning with now. Zook is nothing but a bad memory, and his players are graduated also. I hope everybody thinks FLA will be in a \"transition\" year next year. We lose Spikes , Stamper, and Tebow as main players. May lose a couple more in the draft, TT is great, and has done alot for UF, but Im ready for Brantley to take it next year.

I actually believe Brantley will be a better QB if UF can get the explosive WR's they have had in the past. He would eat up D secondaries.
