Yes, Meyer should be fined since it is a “no tolerance” policy. Not suspended though. Mr. Slive’s statement said that the coaches would face fines and COULD be suspended. Don’t think Meyer will since he did not outright criticize the officials.

We all know that the refs changed the outcome of three big games, Kiffin had every right to complain, that the SEC warning had all the charm of a gag order, and that from ESPN perspective the SEC is already in mild violation of the first ammendment.
We all know that there was really nothing wrong with what Myers said .... but he did say it and it was against the rules. I don't think the SEC can afford hypocrisy at this point in time.
Myers should have pretended to be upset (the media doesn't demand sincerity - only the appearance of sincerity) and suspended Spikes \"from the next game\". If it happened to be Vandy where he isn't really needed anyway then \"oh well - that's still the next game\".
But Myers blew it.
Now what?
don't cry over spilt milk. Say what you think should be done to make the whole thing go away and for ESPN to love the SEC again.

David Hale's article this morning reports that the suspension has been upped to a full game on the pines. Wonder what happened to change UM's mind . . . Commissioner, Media . . . . ?

IMO - they will wait and see how the media reacts. If the media is willing to look away then they are too. The interesting thing is if the journalists and editors decide to push it. Would the SEC go over their heads to the network and try to force the stories to be pulled? I doubt it. If the reporters push it then the only smart move is a token fine. But it can't be obviously token. The reporters need to feel like they won or else they'll just keep digging for something new every week. The only reason they made an issue of Spikes is becuase they were never satisfied with the officiating. The longer you deny them a moral victory the more they will search for something to pick at.
Just my opinion.

Buc, the way I read it this morning was that Spikes \"supposedly\" asked to sit out the entire game because he didn't want to be a negative distraction to the team. Such a great team player to sacrifice himself for the good of the team, huh? IMO, he's got an achilles tendon problem and a groin problem.....a perfect time to rest both injuries. Don't give me this crap about sitting out for the good of the team and not wanting to be a negative distraction while they prepare for big, bad Vandy. He's just trying to look good while all intentions are to heal up for the stretch run.
