This weekend, I will spend hundreds of dollars traveling to Jacksonville, FL to attend the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party as a Georgia Bulldog fan. Upon hearing this, the question that should pop into the head of any sane, thinking gentleman is \"why?\" Ultimately, there is no reason. I go because I must. I am a dawg, and will uphold tradition for the sake of tradition and support my Dawgs though the heavens fall.
However, my analytic side rationalizes the excursion thus:
1.) It is a high-risk, high-reward trip. Sort of like day trading. The overwhelming odds are that we will simply see a repeat of last year, but if we do win it will be epic and one for the ages, as we have a chance to do the following:
a.) Beat the undefeated, defending national champion, and number 1 ranked team in the country and spoil a national championship for them as an unranked team. When's the last time we did that?
b.) Deny the greatest college football player this century so far and the best in UF history a winning record against Georgia. If Tebow finishes his career 2-2 against us, it will be the first time since the 80s that a Florida starter hasn't had a winning record against the Dawgs.
c.) Deny the greatest player in Florida history the opportunity to become a two-time Heisman winner.
d.) See if we can hold the line and stop Tebow from breaking Hershel's record against us.
A win would do all of that for us (except for possibly d). Tell me that isn't something that will last a lifetime. It will go down as one of the greatest games in SEC history, and I want to be able to say I was there if it does happen, even though the odds are better that I'll have a wreck on my way driving there.
