Tim Donaghy All Over Again?

As riveting as this is, its the last I will say, we can agree to disagree. Just as one player cant lose the whole game, one call cant either. If a player misses a shot with time running out to lose, he didnt lose the game for the team. How could a ref make one call and blow the entire game. Its not possible, there are 59 minutes and 59 seconds left in the game other than that one second a ref makes a bad call. In that other time if you dont take care of your business at hand, its your fault. But we as a society are so accustomed to blaming other people for things we should have taken care of, that its become the norm. They were bad calls and the refs have been disciplined accordingly, but they didnt lose Ark the game. Ark lost the games themselves.

Refs can DEFINITELY lose a game for a team. Fortunately GATORstrong, 99% of the time they don't and I agree with your assessment. BUT McShea87 IS correct in the few games mentioned that the refs POSSITIVELY lost those games. The J Sanks fumble LOST the game for us without a doubt......the 5th down was an inexcusable blunder that lost the game for Missouri etc etc.

Imo, yes a ref's call can and HAS lost a game or two BUT the good news is that 99% of the time it's the teams own fault for their loss.

There's the \"gray area\" in the argument....imo.

I would like to think I'm man enough to complain about a bad call whether it benefits Georgia or not. The refs should not unfairly influence a game.

I also agree that refs can lose a game for a team but very rarely.
And the personal foul call against Arkansas was bogus but unlike the call against UGA in the LSU game, it had little effect.
As averagedawg has stated:

The call against Arkansas happened with almost 8 minutes left to play. It moved the Gators from Arkansas' 20 yd. line to the 10 yard line. Since it was only 2nd down and Demps ran a 10 yd. TD (that could have gone for 30+ since noone was close to him) on the next play, it is a MASSIVE stretch to claim that this call cost Arkansas the game.

Not just that one call but the series of calls, with 1:07 left Arkansas when Florida threw to the end zone, it should have either been an interception or an offensive interference on Riley Cooper, had it been picked off Arkansas would have taken a knee and gone to OT, had it been interference Florida would have been faced with 2nd and 20 from the 50.
