Maybe CMR is right

I think something has been going on for awhile. You can see it in the way the players are playing.....its like they know something is not right. Or maybe they are tired of the way WM is doing things and they are taking it upon themselves to make sure something gets done, ie. not playing up to par cause they know that if its not getting done on the field then something is gonna have to be done. Or because maybe they are just as fed up as us fans are and realize something has gotta change. Not saying that this is happening but i have seen it done in HS football and other sports and it worked! And this may be the reason the players are not buying into the system. This is just my opinion.

fire_dawg, I too believe that there are some under currents on the team (coaches and players).

Being as I am retired, I go to many, many sites that carry information or opinions about UGA. Surprisingly, the noise that is out there now is as loud as I have ever witnessed.

Sports writers, blogs, fans, you name it, folks from all areas seem to have one or two things in common when it comes to where they think the problems are. The same questions and statements that I see the most are about the Defense (first) and the failure of the Offense (second). For a period of four or five years the decline is noticeable and gets more pronounced every year.

There are many opinions as to the depth of necessary action that should be applied. My opinion is this . . . . Coach Richt has to reassert himself and go back to running the team with a much heavier hand. He did his dead level best to give up some of his responsibilities to folks that he thought and hoped would prove to be excellent coaches. Did not work, will not work with the current group. Many people including myself have owned their own businesses, been through some of the things that Coach Richt is going through right now. There were a few times over the years that I had to call myself on the carpet, why . . . . because I became too complacent with the business and employees, and the advantage goes to no one in that scenario.

Looks like another player has been suspended for the upcoming game this weekend. One game suspension, but that could be the beginning of much deeper problems with this team.

Agree with you 100%, you can see it in the way the players are playing.

There's definitely something going on there, firedawg. It may even be a subconscious reaction to their dissatisfaction of WM's style. These players seem to be lost on so many plays--I've seen Jr High teams figure out systems better than this D has recently.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

I was just discussing this with a freind the other day. Let's hope it's not getting or already reached the point to where CMR has lost his grasp on things. From the look of him at the press conference this week you can tell he his not the same person. He also appeared to have a serious case of indigestion. But then again I'm pretty sure every one of us has that same feeling in our stomachs about what has been happening this season.

A team is only as strong as its WEAKEST link, right now it seems that our coaching staff is the WEAKEST link! UGA has has one of the top recruiting classes in the nation for the past several years. I just hope this season doesn't steer top recruits AWAY from our program because of the problems with our coaching staff!

CMR has made three mistakes.

The first was handing the offense over to Bobo. When Richt was running the offense the Bulldogs had the best halftime adjustments of any team in the nation. It was thing of beauty to watch the bulldogs come back out and D Green execute Richt's adjustments. He was the best. Bobo? Maybe top 100. If so, then barely.

The second was handing the defense over to Martinez. High penalties and missed tackles are from bad coaching. Period. Nothing else matters if you can't take care of those two things. Which Martinez doesn't do so there is no point discussing pee-wee league schemes and a pitiful sense of play calling.

The third mistake is not to correct either of the first two in a timely fashion.

It's too bad. Richt is an awesome OC and should be an awesome HC. But, if he can't cull the weeds from his staff then I guess he just isn't HC material.
