FSU, understandably and rightly, wants Bowden gone after this season. A great man who did great things whose day in the sun has come to a close.
Strangely, they are going to give the head coaching job to \"head coach in waiting,\" Jimbo Fisher.
This, of course, makes no sense.
Fisher has been running the FSU offense for the past 3 years. Why do they expect to improve under him? A 5 year contract for Fisher is 5 more years of post 2002 Bowden. He brings absolutely nothing new to the table and was a big part of their mediocrity in the last few years.
Why not just hire Auburn's Gus Malzhan and solve all your team's problems?
We may have problems with a head coach who is too lenient and forgiving of a subpar supporting cast, but at least we don't fire him and replace him with a member of said subpar supporting cast.
There are some rumors floating around that the Noles are going to take a stab at CMR. This makes sense because of his ties to their program's glory days and the fact that he groomed Charlie Ward and Chris Winke. How much cash are they willing to pony up, though? They'll have to pay Jimbo a 5 million dollar bonus for not honoring their contract to make him head coach when Bowden retires. I think we're safe, myself. It would be a big step down for CMR.
