Those of you who recorded the game, here's wisdom: go back and watch it.
It will be painful, but it will be worth it.
Here is what you will see. You will see two teams, evenly matched. You will see one team that is just a little bit better than the other team. That team will win the game.
Folks, we can't blame the officials for this one. We can't blame the offense. We can't blame the defense. We can't blame Joe Cox or Willie Martinez or Mike Bobo or Mark Richt.
We played our hearts out on Saturday. LSU won the game because LSU was a better team on Saturday. Period. There's no ifs or wouldas or shouldas or buts. LSU's better this year, the way we've been better than them for five years. The way LSU was better than us, by leaps and bounds, in 2003. This wasn't a Zook-era Florida game, folks. The better team won. We weren't sure of that before the game; we are damn sure of it now.
It's time to go to Knoxville and beat a team that we KNOW is worse than we are.
yes we can. Sure LSU is a better team. So what? The better team doesn't always win. LSU blew it. Green made a fabulous catch and Cox made the one throw when it counted. It didn't make UGA a better team, but it did make them ahead on the scoreboard. A bad call by the referee changed the outcome of the game.
Now, I'm not all that upset. The better team won. But I'm not going to lie to myself and say that the referee's didn't intervene. Whomever told you that life was fair lied. I think the real question is whether or not the ref made an honest mistake or if he was actively trying to influence the outcome. It should be investigated and if the ref was acting like the guy in beer commercial then he should be tossed out. As regards the outcome? Well, two wrongs made a right.
