Here we go again...

\"being gassed \" is referring to the start of the year. These young men are thoroughbreds. They are not weekend warriors. They do not play every single down of the game like some of them do in high school. I don't care if it is early in the year. A division 1 athlete shouldn't be tired and struggling through a game if they are conditioned correctly. I do not count USC that was a special situation.

I am sorry I couldn't completely say what I meant. Ii kind of looked like we were tired against OSU. I know it was our first game, but how can we be that tired. They know all year long that opening day is coming and have every opportunity in the world to train. Also, we seem to have had some season ending injuries early in the year these last couple of years. A lot of injuries are accompanied with fatigue. These guys play hard and I know they get winded, but they don't play every single snap like a lot of high school kids do. They rotate when it is their turn also. Our offensive and defensive lines seem to have had a lot of knee injuries. Maybe our strength and conditioning program needs to be looked at. Sure these guys are big strong and fast, but these are not all of the characteristics of training. Flexibility is pretty important also. I say this because I remember the replay of Trinton Sturdivants injury. It looked very awkward. I may be way off base, but I could also be making a valid argument.

Training could be a problem, who knows?

Remember though, game conditioning and practice/training is a HUGE difference. Once you get use to \"game conditions\", play faster, much bigger effort, hit harder, adrenilin way up, mental strain etc, then you won't see fatique from the players. Huge difference. Game conditions create short term fatique from the adrenilin rush and excitement. They will be fine on that front.
