I think offensively, we are getting there. Cox did a decent job running the offense and will only get better. We play a good defensive team Saturday, let's not forget. Defensively, I don't know which team will show from week to week. I do know this- Houston returns this week and he was an animal in the G-Day game. Hopefully, this will help our pass rush. We have a lot of talent on defense, but our alignment, sometimes, sets us up to fail. Whenever they put two wide on one side and put another in the slot or used a tight end on the same side. We set up with corner on the wide man tight, nickel corner on next WR tight, and slid a safety over to cover slot/TE and played off 15 yards. Little hook pattern in front of coverage- 8-10 yds every time. Our OLB's need to pick up on this and slide over and step in front of receiver. Norwood did and what happened, pick6! As they got close, however, and the field got shorter, coverage got tighter. South Carolina had to settle for field goals. At the end of the day it worked, we won, but it was against a South Carolina offense that is not known for lighting up the scoreboard. I hope our scheme changes against LSU, Floria, etc, because they are a whole lot more capable of making plays in the red zone than SC.

Was Houston's showing in the G Day game against our #1 offense and O-line? If so that says alot with the talent we have on the line. If against our second string, the jury is still out on how he will show against a first team offense. Does anyone remember?

watson......I was going to post a thread about this Sat. being a big test to see just where our offense is and how good Bobo can call the game. Reason? MY info and understanding is that Ark has THE worst defense in the SEC.....not good AT ALL. If our offense can't move the ball against this D we will be facing, then we REALLY have big problems. Yes we scored a bunch last week but we only had about 318 in total offense. It will be interesting to see.

The D side of the ball will be JUST as interesting because Petrino is going to throw it, then throw it and then throw some more. Mallet is 6'7\" with a very good arm and is going to really test our secondary. We all know that Petrino loves to throw the ball and is a very good pass scheming gameday coach. That too will be very interesting.

Believe we win because their D is actually worse than ours and we should be able to move the ball consistently (should is the operative word there).

I still can't understand why you would play 8-10 yards off if they are just gonna keep burning us up on it. I really hope our secondary comes to play...escpecially evans! He needs to do something and do something quick because my confidence is fading...

We might have turned a corner. I just don't know which direction we're headed.
