I think offensively, we are getting there. Cox did a decent job running the offense and will only get better. We play a good defensive team Saturday, let's not forget. Defensively, I don't know which team will show from week to week. I do know this- Houston returns this week and he was an animal in the G-Day game. Hopefully, this will help our pass rush. We have a lot of talent on defense, but our alignment, sometimes, sets us up to fail. Whenever they put two wide on one side and put another in the slot or used a tight end on the same side. We set up with corner on the wide man tight, nickel corner on next WR tight, and slid a safety over to cover slot/TE and played off 15 yards. Little hook pattern in front of coverage- 8-10 yds every time. Our OLB's need to pick up on this and slide over and step in front of receiver. Norwood did and what happened, pick6! As they got close, however, and the field got shorter, coverage got tighter. South Carolina had to settle for field goals. At the end of the day it worked, we won, but it was against a South Carolina offense that is not known for lighting up the scoreboard. I hope our scheme changes against LSU, Floria, etc, because they are a whole lot more capable of making plays in the red zone than SC.
