First and foremost,....congrats to Hefley, RxCowboy and the OSU team for their victory last Saturday...I must say, the outcome wasn't close to what many predicted. Instead of an offensive war, it was defensive and surprizingly, OSU's defense was the stellar performer. I tip my hat to their new DC for a well thought out and executed game plan. Second only because of the final score was the Dawgs D. The much maligned CWM D held OSU's premier powerhouse O to extremely LOW stats...
I've spent most of the early morning reading the threads regarding Saturday's game. Some are very accurate,...others, not so much. This loss falls squarely on coaching, particularly Coach Bobo and to a lesser degree, Coach Ball. Bobo, pulled the trigger on the passing game wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to early, then panicked when the game momentum swung to OSU and relied on the pass wayyyyyyyyyyy too much. I knew in the first half that we were in trouble when our D handed our O several three and outs and we failed to capitalize!...You simply cannot allow a team like OSU to hang around, but that is exactly what our playcalling did....Add in the fact that Coach Ball failed to realize that we had 3 other WR's that saw zero playing time within the rotation and you basically negate the players required to complete Coach Bobo's panick!...For this the O Coaching get a big fat Fand the hope that they will be better prepared for the remainder of the season.
As for the intangibles, What the hell are we playing....flag football???...Protecting a defenseless players...WTF?!?!?....The defenseless players are the ones warming the bench...Can we PLEASE stop appeasing the tree hugging, PC police....this is freaking football!...None of the hits for either OSU or UGA should have received a flag...they we're all legit and clean...Instead we get idiotic interpretations that even confused the ABC/ESPN announcers!!!...Same with the block in the back calls,....shameful and pathetic officiating. I read several critical posts regarding JC's attempt to throw deep routes....Most of the attempts were to AJ, who was covered like a blanket...which was the reason for the high and hard to reach passes...JC had one beautiful crossing route to a wide open White...that White dropped...Again, playcalling...we could have dinked OSU with short, out patterns all day...On defense, boys, ya just gotta catch the passes thrown at you...We missed 3-4 easy interceptions....It was just NOT our day!!!!
The big surprize in this game was the OSU defense....No one expected that they would play at the level that they played...especially our OC! As for the much proclaimed premier OSU offense....uhhh,...I'm still waiting on the fear factor to start...Hard to tell if our D was that good, or if the OSU O is slightly overrated...perhaps a little of both?!?!?....For the Dawgs, glad to see a head hunting D....would have loved to see more pressure on the QB, but there was little in the way of 5-7 step drops...again...gameplan....All in all, OSU was better prepared than were we....these are correctable issues....Let's see how we respond.....
GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
