This week's Dawg of the Week is Rex Robinson, Georgia's placekicker from 1977-80.
Rex first gained prominence as a member of the \"Wonderdawg Underdawg\" 1978 team, which saw him go 29 for 29 in PAT attempts and kick the field goal that brought Larry Munson into prominence to beat Kentucky 17-16. \"It looks good...YEAHH!!!!! He kicked the whatchamacallit out of it!\"
In that phenomenal 1980 season, Rex went 36 of 36 on PAT attempts and kicked two 57-yard field goals, against South Carolina and Georgia Tech, tied for the fourth-longest in Georgia history. He's tops all time in Georgia PAT percentage, overcoming an inauspicious start (he missed the first PAT he attempted) to go 101 of 102 in his college career, an amazing 99% accuracy rate. Kevin Butler can't boast that, nor can Georgia's best statistical placekicker in history, Billy Bennett. For three consecutive seasons (1978, 79, 80), King Robinson did not miss an extra point.
This is your place to share your Rex Robinson memories.
