I will start off by saying that I am more than stoked about the upcoming season. I have obtained a HAM Radio Operator license, and will be obtaining many home games this upcoming season. With 25 days remaining in this years’ “off season”, I started my research. And i’m going to share with ya’ll my opinion.
QB: Joe Cox. At the beginning, I was definitely a hater. I wanted Logan Gray or Aaron Murray to take the snaps at the beginning of this season, over hyping the two stars in my head. And stars they will be, but it takes time to make stars. I believe that Joe Cox will have the intensity, leadership, and determination that we have needed for the past three years. Cox waited his turn, now it’s his time to take over the reigns.
HB: Carlton Thomas. This kid has it all. I have been a fan of Caleb King since he signed with Georgia, but after seeing the G-Day game & Thomas’ highlights..something just clicks.. I don’t know if it’s his speed, his elusiveness, or his attitude; but it is something that makes this kid stand out. Not to leave Washuan Ealey or Richard Samuel out, but they don’t really have my head turning. I am really looking forward to how this running back situation pans out.
WR: AJ Green, Tavarres King, Marlon Brown. This could be the most dangerous receiving core in the NCAA. AJ Green can do everything, Tavaress King can run and has great hands, and we have yet to see what all Marlon Brown can do. These players will help us in the route to an SEC Championship.
OL: Ben Jones, Trinton Sturdivant, Clint Boling, Chris Davis. If this group stays healthy, you won’t be able to drive a dump truck through our OLine. With Sturdivant and Davis healthy, it will help both Cox’s precision & decision making, and King/Thomas’ running.
TE: Orson Charles. I’m crossing my fingers that this fellow will get the starting job; he has size, speed, and hands. I really, really like this guy. His only competing with Arthur Lynch, who is a little bigger, with ‘better’ blocking skills.
DL: Jeff Owens, Geno Atkins, Demarcus Dobbs, Justin Houston. If these kids stay healthy, every o-line in the SEC better be prepared. They will find a way to break through any line, and attack the opposing quarterback. I am really excited about this defensive line.
LB: Akeem Dent, Rennie Curran. Another fierce lineup here. If what we have read about ‘utilizing our linebackers to attack the QB’ is correct, this will be a Damn Good Defense. I really, really hope that Willie Martinez will loosen up and take some chances.
CB: Prince Miller, Branden Smith. Both Miller and Smith have speed, and there impact will be felt. With Vance Cuff there for backup, it should give us plenty of room for linebacker blitz packages. Oh man, I’m stoked!
Safeties: Reshad Jones, Bryan Evans. I have been fans of both players since day one. Jones is fast, has great vision (anyone remember the LSU game?) and Evans has speed & great vision as well. They are both hard hittin’ safeties, just the way I like them!
If this team can stay healthy, i’m calling an SEC title! (and you know what comes along with one of those now-a-days? a BCS championship!) Good luck, ‘Dawgs, I can’t wait to watch you ‘Hunker Down’!
How 'Bout Dem SEC Champion Dawgs!?
