Around Sanford Stadium? was created by Gamecocks7
Hello Georgia fans. Im not here to talk smack or anything. I am a Gamecock fan however. I and a few of my friends are making the trip this year to Athens to see the USC/UGA game. I was wondering if any of yall know some great places to eat or hang out before and after the game around Sanford Stadium? I dont want to go to a place where UGA fans will give me a really hard time either if we won or loss. Thanks yall.

Hi, gamecockfan, this message board is the best place in my opinion to get information and answers. I love love The Varsity, its pretty timeless in Athens, plus my husband demands we stop there anytime we are in Athens. Walking through North Campus to see all the tailgating is beautiful and pretty impressive. You won't get too harassed as Carolina fan. I live in SC too, I am treated pretty nicely even for a Georgia alum (ha). Enjoy the game! We will be there with some friends as well.

With parking being rough your best bet would probably be to either bring some food or eat at the bulldog cafe across from the stadium. Tailgating is normally pretty friendly. So bring your cooler and chairs!

One of the best places to tailgate/drink/watch other games before the game (it being a seven-o'clocker and all) is the Blind Pig, located just off campus on Baldwin. Downtown Classic City is fantastic. Stop by The Smoker's Den to get yourself a gameday cigar (one of the best selections I've seen in a small store). Best thing to do, honestly, is put on good walking shoes, park outside of campus, and just walk around downtown and on campus. You'll find a great deal to entertain you in the day before the game.
