Fantastic Diamond Dawg Performances

Today was a great day if you're a fan of baseball or softball, or just of the Dawgs.

Down 4-0 late in the first game of the Athens super regional, Georgia overcame the deficit and an uncharacteristic poor performance by starter Christie Hamilton to beat Ohio State 6-4, leaving them one win away from the WCWS. Did I mention we did this on national television (ESPN2)?

Trevor Holder went 101 pitches into a no-decision against Arkansas, at one point retiring 15 Razorback bats in a row before Joey Lewis drove in Matt Cerione on a high chopper in the bottom of the tenth, leading Georgia to a 2-1 win in the SEC Tournament. This means that Georgia doesn't have to play again until Saturday (against either Arkansas or UF), and that they have won two games in the SEC tournament, the first time that's happened since 2001 I believe. Georgia is also on a great path towards regaining their early-season form, and on track to winning its first SEC Tournament in HISTORY!!!

I much rather face Arkansas again than UF. We've proven we have the Razorback's number this year, while Florida always seems to have ours. Of course, that also might mean that Arkansas is due for a win against us, while we are due for a win against UF. But, come on. It's Florida! Nope, don't wanna face the Gators again anytime soon.

dapolla, watched the entire game on ESPN2. Special treat for us folks living in Florida getting to watch the Dawgs. THE Ohio State had me worried for a while. Great win.

Sure would love to play Florida this weekend and advance.

Yeah saw the comeback in the softball game. Their shortstop made a CRITICAL throwing error to home which I believe cost them the game. BUT.....we took advantage and played great when they HAD to.


Kinda agree with ChemDawg....UF has our number in the major sports. We seem to have too much peanut butter in our throats when we play them.
