Bullpen Woes

I don't know what's happened to our bullpen, but we sure picked the wrong point in the season to throw up all over ourselves. Dean Weaver gave up four of the runs in a nine-run ninth as Georgia choked against Jacksonville State (!) at Foley Field, 16-8. Our bullpen also gave up what should have been a surefire win against Ole Miss over the weekend, which would have clinched that series for us.

Guys, we're one game up on Florida in the East and we're tied with LSU for the overall SEC lead. We picked the WRONG time of the year to lose five of seven. We're going into a weekend series with Florida that will pretty much decide the East, and May 12 is the Turner Field game against Tech, who may well be ranked #1 when we face them.

Now is the time to strap it on and win, boys. Runs must be scored. Leads MUST be held. We can't put our bullpen in the position to have to close out an 8-7 game when we were leading 4-0 after one and 8-3 after six. After not losing a game all year long with a lead in the sixth inning, we have lost two such games in the last week.

GET IT TOGETHER, DAWGS!!!

MAN.....I'm SICK of UF having our number. We seem to choke just about every time we play them...

Bullpen again, wlayton. Friday night would not have had to have been finished on Saturday if our bullpen had been able to hold an 8-0 lead. Instead, we went into Saturday's delay tied 9-9, and Florida won 10-9 in 11. Then we give up a 7-3 lead late and Florida scores 6 runs in the ninth to beat us.

This is getting ridiculous. We just gave up any shot we had at the SEC title, and probably gave up the East, because of bad bullpen play. Gag reflexes in full effect...

I agree with you dapolla about our bullpin but.......we JUST CHOKE AGAINST UF !! It's unbelievable to me. The only game would MAYBE should have lost was game 2 but the other two were just big time CHOKES!!

Maybe fire all the coaches of the top 3 sports and get Coach Y out of retirement to coach 'em up!!!

By the same measure, we choked against Ole Miss and Jacksonville State twice each in the last ten days. To your point about Florida, they took two of three against us last year and swept us the year before. The last time we had a winning series against them was the 2006 CWS season, when we swept them in Gainesville. For the record, under David Perno we are 9-12 against Florida.

Time to focus on Vandy, then Tech. GO DAWGS!!!

Thanks for the stats dapolla, very interesting. Doesn't surprise me that we have a losing record the last few years against UF.
