Another Georgia Legend

It appears that Rich Poythress is a legend in the making. Last night against Kennesaw State (no slouch; they will, according to David Perno, probably win their division), Rich went 4-for-4 with three home runs and a double that just missed clearing the wall. Four RBI, four runs scored, one walk, and a whole lot of talent. This kid is set to shatter every available offensive record at Georgia save stolen bases and possibly walks. We all know how special Jeff Keppinger and Gordon Beckham were to our program. You know that I'm not downgrading them at all when I say that what #33 is doing this year is making them look like Little Leaguers. Whatever happens with the Georgia program this Spring, Rich Poythress' season is going to be one to remember. I don't know about any of you, but I personally have myself a #33 baseball jersey; lucky serendipity: I bought it at random before last season, not knowing who Rich was. I found out very quickly.

If you're in the Athens area, Georgia's only got two home series left: against Florida and Vandy. We also have one more midweek home game against Jacksonville State next week to match off the game at JSU tonight. Seriously, if you haven't gotten out for a game, you need to get out for a game. I've personally witnessed two Poythress round-trippers (both for three runs, both against Youngstown State) and they were very very worth it. Get out to Foley Field. No joke. Enjoy history while you can.

dapolla, being it is almost impossible for me to make the jaunt to Athens, I have been fortunate to catch many of our games on TV. Past weekend wife and I were in Sarasota on insurance business and I got to watch the Arkansas games. Wow! Last game, bottom of the ninth . . . Wow. As an old left handed pitcher at FPHS, #33 is exactly that, scary. Bright future for another Dawg.
