Realize that UGA is noted nation wide as a football school, good for us, we have won two or three National Championships in the sport. Not all universities can say that. Football is and probably always will be the headliner, not only in the South, but the nation. Whether we are talking high school, college or pro. Baseball is no longer the national pastime, that is a fact. Love baseball, Johnny Mize was my cousin, played for the New York Yankees at the end of his career. Played some ball myself. Not the national pastime anymore.
It is hard for me to understand how our University can mope along and generally show such ineptitude when it pertains to the basketball team. Not the women, the men. Corruption and a general look the other way type of attitude, wait for football season. If that is the case, why not do away with UGA Men's Basketball. Yes, there was a definite stain from father and son at UGA.
The amount of talent that is available to any program in the SEC can be witnessed by the National Championships at Florida. Something is wrong with this picture. Did not mention Kentucky.
With a history such as ours, if I am a potential basketball player, not a chance that I am shooting hoops in Athens. Will be glad to go through the history of UGA Basketball with anyone.
The point I am trying to make is this . . . . when will the powers that be get into the mainstream and get this program heading into the right direction.
Have read recently where we are going to take our time and make the right selection for Coach. That is well and good, just show me the goods.
I would make this suggestion . . . . Hugh Durham has forgotten more about round ball that most of us will ever know. What a prime candidate to help in the selection of a coach for UGA. Sorry folks, getting a tad bitter watching this CRAP unfold.
