Another quick note on the sweep of the Vawls: even though he went hitless on Sunday, ending his 14-game hitting streak, Rich Poythress was still named both SEC Player of the Week and the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week for his 6-for-10, 4-homer performance in the weekend series in Knoxville. This is not to mention the fact that Saturday saw him with an 8.000 (!!!) slugging percentage. That number is UNBELIEVABLE. He also had back-to-back games (Friday and Saturday) with two homers apiece.
Ah, well, I guess if anyone's going to make Gordon Beckham look like small potatoes, it might as well be Rich Poythress.
