Injury puts Dogs’ defensive end Dobbs out for rest of spring practice

Georgia has lost another defensive end with another injury.
Junior Demarcus Dobbs will undergo surgery for a broken bone in his left foot and will miss the rest of spring practice.
Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson expects Dobbs to be able to train this summer and be at full capacity for preseason practices.
The injury leaves Georgia with just three healthy scholarship defensive ends for the rest of the spring: Justin Houston, Jeremy Longo and Kiante Tripp.
Coach Mark Richt had said earlier in the week — before Dobbs’ injury — that the defensive ends were “probably the thinnest of all the groups.”
Rod Battle (shoulder), Cornelius Washington (shoulder) and Neland Ball (patella tendon) already were out for the spring.
“We have pretty low numbers right now, so we’re just trying to get through it and stay together like brothers,” Longo said earlier this week.
Dobbs sustained his injury — described as a fracture to the fifth metatarsal — during Thursday’s practice. He started four games last year when he had two sacks and a pair of interceptions.
Georgia’s first spring scrimmage was postponed today because of the rainy weather.
