Interesting piece in the Athens Banner Herald about these two men.

There is little doubt in my mind that Coach Dungy in some way was a huge influence on Orson Charles choosing UGA. Birds of a feather. . . .I think that Coach Richt and Coach Dungy, should not say think, KNOW that they share many of the same principals and beliefs.

From a football standpoint, it sure does not hurt to have Dungy and Richt being of the same caliber, character, and from a football perspective, folks that young men can go to for counseling.

Coach Dungy resides in Tampa and is respected by the football community. He could mean an awful lot to UGA and the recuiting in Florida. He is not pushy, just HONEST.

Again, I for one believe that Coach Dungy had a lot to do with Orson Charles coming to Athens.

One question I would like to ask of the board regulars and others . . . . which NFL team do you support. Think that would be interesting.

I was at one time a supporter of the Atlanta Falcons. That began with their first year in Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. Remained a fan until 1981, then moved over to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I've been a Falcons fan since Tommy Nobis was drafted. Now pull for the Titans as well, but the Falcons are still first.

sadlerdawg, my daughter is a 4th grade teacher in Plantation, Flordia, anyway one of the other teacher's husband is a reporter who covers the Miami Dolphins. Harvey Fialkov by name. (Sun-Sentinel) They hangout a bit, so I get some good information from time to time about the Dolphins. Loved it when Bill Stanfield was a horse of a DE there. Even though I was a Falcon backer then. Jake Scott wasn't bad either. . . . .

DawgFanInTn, back in the day I used to play on Peachtree at a place named the Tree on Peachtree. Great restaurant and they poured a stout drink. A lot of the players used to find their way in and it was interesting to watch the carrying on. Also, Skip Carey,(bless his soul) spent many, many hours there spinning tales and having a good time. Tommy Nobis was pursued heavily by the Houston franchise before the merger with the NFL. Falcons won that battle, think the Houston owner's name was (is?) Bud Adams. Tommy was a wild man when first coming out of Texas and had a few good times on Peachtree also.

The wildest of the wild was without a doubt \"Captain Crazy\" . . . aka Alex Hawkins. Tree on Peachtree and the patrons loved this guy.

I'm not a big pro fan. I'll root for the Steelers just because my wife likes them. Hey, I figure. She puts up with my Red and Black gig so I can throw a little support for her team. I do how ever respect Dungy with out end. He is a man with great beliefs. Just like our very on CMR. Two great men trying to help with a great program. Lead from the front!!

flyindawg, many of us that like pro football will never get to the point that the Steeler fans are now. I have great respect for that team, one of the reasons being . . . . it is Blue Collar . . . . The Rooney Family never moved away from their fans and their wishes. Just a great, great franchise. (Ask Hines Ward) Know that there are probably some Cowboy fans on here somewhere, but will say this . . . . what a difference between Cowboy management and ownership and Steeler management and ownership. Your wife is a wise person!
