Hey! Ho! Twelve in a row!
Ladies and gents, we are the number one team in the nation. We have scored in double-digits in 9 of 12 games. We have only trailed twice in 108 innings. We swept Arizona in Tuscon.
Does David Perno know what he's doing, or what?
Georgia baseball has never experienced a \"Golden Age\" like it is currently experiencing under Coach Perno. The man has the Midas Touch. Consider:
1) He has been to the CWS as a player (1990), an assistant coach (2001) and a head coach (2004, 2006, 2008).
2) Since he began coaching at UGA the Dawgs have won three SEC titles (2001, 2004, 2008) in eight years, something that has never happened in our history.
3) As head coach, he has taken home two SEC crowns in five years, something that has only happened once in history (1953-4).
4) The only title that eludes him is the SEC Tournament Title, something Georgia has never won.
5) Under Coach Perno the Dawgs became the first team in HISTORY to reach, and then win a game in, the CWS final after having had a losing season the year before.
6) Under Coach Perno the Dawgs have gone on their two longest winning streaks in history. They are currently (as of 1:30 pm 3/10, before the first LeMoyne game) on a twelve-game winning streak, and went on a 13-game winning streak in 2006 entering the SEC Tournament.
I could keep listing, but I don't need to. The man has turned our baseball program into a perennial powerhouse. He's got a winning record of 251-180-1 in seven years and he's just generally awesome.
Just a little love. We talk about our football folk on here so often; I think it's important to recognize the other great Dawgs that may not receive as much national attention as they should.
GO DAWGS!
