sleeper recruits

With all the big name guys we got this year it would easy to get lost in the shuffle and I think LB Mike Gilliard from Valdosta is one of those players. Gilliard's coach, Rick Tomberlin, who also had stints at Lowndes and Washington County, said Gilliard was one of the best he's seen. He said many UGA people don't realize the player they are getting in Gilliard. That's saying something because Tomberlin has seen a few LB in his time (Takeo Spikes and Randall godfrey to name a few). If anyone has some info on our recruits for 2009, please post.

That's great to hear about Gilliard. Tomberlin definitely knows good ones when he sees him. I went to Lowndes with Randall and saw him play darn near every Friday night and Saturday in Athens! He was beast so Gilliard should be awesome.

You are dead on watson, he has been overlooked but may be in the top 2 or 3 in the class.

I agree, wlayton. We had a great recruiting class this year. Not big on quantity but big on quality. Should make for some exciting seasons to come. One problem everyone knows we had last year was pressure from our DE's. Most of that can be attributed to the rash of injuries we had. Georgia went and got another kid from Indiana named Montez Robinson. Robinson (6-5, 240) is FAST- Ran a 4.43 40 at Scout.com combine. ATHLETIC -Has a 34\" vertical, also ran 400 meters, shot, and discus for track team. He was the #1 prospect out of Indiana. This kid can move! He has room in his frame for another 10-15 lbs. when he gets here. He is an excellent recruit that doesn't get a lot of press. Plus he dumped Auburn to come to UGA.

Montez Robinson is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

You know, when I think about people like Urban Leyer and Lane \"Gaspumper\" Kiffin, it makes me eternally grateful for recruiters like Mark Richt, Rodney Garner and, yes, Willie Martinez, who go out and get the right kids the right way. GO DAWGS!!!
