Los Perros Diamantes

So the Dawgs open up their series against Arizona tonight. This is their first real test, and I'm a little nervous. Sure, we've proven we can pitch, we can hit, and we can run. But it's like every third game we boot every third ball. We can't afford to make mistakes against good teams; remember, the two teams we've faced have combined thus far to win no games AT ALL.

I think my wife's too sick for our date night, so I'm going to listen to the game on my computer. Everyone else who's doing so, I'd love if you posted your thoughts during (or, like me, because I'm superstitious, post-game) and see where we are for this series.

One thing, the batting combination of Taylor, Poythress and May is going to be out of this world this year. Not to mention the running combo of Taylor, Cone, and Verdin...man, those boys can fly! And our pitching staff...whew! Did anyone see how good Cecil Tanner (My God, a freshman!) got after that one shaky inning when he allowed a run? Or how Justin Grimm was perfect through five against YSU? Or what a good setup man Will Harvil has become? Or the potential for Dean Weaver to be THE GUY in the ninth inning?

Okay, I've talked myself into having some Kool-Aid...anyone else want a cup?

GO DAWGS!!!

Great win, last night. Total team win. Contributions from the whole lineup. These guys ARE for real and will only get better as the season goes along. Could be the perfect mix for another run at the prize! Keep it going, Dawgs. Yes, dapolla, I'll have a shot of that koolaid! B)

Here you go, watson!

Yeah, our guys proved that what they did against Presby and YSU they can do against a big boy, too. Things got a little scary when AZ pulled the score to 5-4, but then Georgia did what we do best, which was score a little every inning before breaking it open late (a four-run eighth? I'll take that ANY game!). Great job by Trevor Holder recovering after a shaky first inning, and a great job by him getting that final strikeout after a Johnathan Taylor miscue extended the fifth.

GO DAWGS!!! TIME TO TAKE THE SERIES!!!
