NO!!!!!!! I do not want Bobby Knight anywhere NEAR the Georgia hardwood. We've already had one disgrace as head basketball coach this decade; we don't need to squeeze one more in before the decade's out! That would be utterly DISGUSTING. NO! dapolla says NO!

dapolla, you & I love to disagree. Bobby Knight is a hell of a round ball coach. He is a great recruter, an excellent floor coach and has no problems with probation at Indiana or Texas Tech. Yes he has a temper and maybe he needs to get a better hand on it. I saw IU play the Dawgs in Bloonington back in Hugh D. days and they beat us by 30 plus points. The Regulator ( famous bar in Bloonington) poured free beer for three hours after the game. He is a great disciplinarian (also caoched at Army USMA at West Point) before he came to Indiana. Would love to see him get a shot at Georgia. He would get to play Kentucky twice instead of only once as he did at IU. And yes, he did beat the Wildcats on a regular basis.
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob Knight is a legend... But, he is 68 years old. Knight would give us 3 years... Then what? We are right back where we started. Knight is a great coach, but he is past his prime. Over their last three seasons both Felton and Knight each coached 86 games, and each left their jobs before the end of the season. Their records were:

45-41 for Felton
48-38 for Knight

Each went to one NCAA Tourny Game... That doesnt seem like much of an upgrade to me. The hiring of Bob Knight would be a splash and make noise around the NCAA, but I dont know if that is what UGA BBall needs.

It's this simple about coach Knight. He was a great caoch and motivator! He looks great on ESPN and he should stay there. His coaching style does not work anymore with kids today. I can say most of us that played any organized sport were yelled at on a consistant basis. Kids don't react to that like they used to. The worse thing that could've happened in my lifetime was the words \"Time Out\"! What the hell is time out: go sit in a corner till someone tells you it's ok now? Time Out is BS and thats why kids today have trouble with discipline! sorry if I am affending anyone's parenting but thats why Coach Knight should stay with ESPN and we find a Coach like CMR. I like wlayton's idea of the Coach that FL wanted. If a two time national champion thinks your good enough to keep the program moving forward than we should jump all over him.

sometimes we have to read and accept or read and reason. While this is not the hottest thread on this forum, it is certainly worth following because it does involve UGA.

Have the greatest respect for dapolla, has more knowledge than most of us that post here. Moving past that, he is a man of reason, sometimes takes us past where our private thoughts take us. One of the very best posters that not only uses logic, but backs it up with facts.

DawgDoc, without question, is the leader on this forum. Everything mentioned above with dapolla, applies to DawgDoc.

On this forum we discuss issues and let the chips fall where they may.

Discussion with or about Bobby Knight opens a huge window for me.

There are so many pluses and minuses for both of us for/against.

For me . . . . . I would love to see BK come to Athens. Question should be why?

My answer is this . . . . with all of his faults . . . . . he is not a cheater. He understands roundball. If you think that his PASSION is more than we can withstand or UNDERSTAND, then we are the same folks that question CWM coaching our defensive football team.

All due respect DawgDoc and Buc, I have to agree with dapolla. BK is or was a great, um, um, X's and O's guy, game day coach, motivator (in many ways I don't agree with) and has won championships. We all know his resume.

I personally believe the man needs \"anger management therapy\". His anger that I have seen displayed many, many times is beyond the scope of the coaching fraternity. He is borderline abusive, no, he IS abusive and I, for one, would never let a son of mine play for a man like that. Of what I've seen, he also has total disrespect for you, myself, anyone interviewing him and most people I've seen him come in contact with. IMO he's a jerk and has no business leading our young men in Athens.

I think the man needs help.......sorry for my strong statements, it's just the way I see him and I've seen him for 30 years too long.
