He's gone. I'll miss him.
I'm not going to lie. This is a big loss.
Totally agree w/you here dapolla!
I REALLY liked AA ever since he landed in Athens and you could tell that he had a TRUE love for UGA too. Big heart, a competitor (playing w/a broken hand), and he definitely played w/some fire and passion. He will be missed for both his leadership and his ability.
Thank you for you time at UGA Asher now go & prove the naysayers wrong at the next level!
As for past UGA corners, Paul Oliver was just starting to come into his own and his grades cost him dearly. Can yall imagine how stellar our defense would have been w/Oliver locking down the oppositions #1 WR in 2007 had he been able to return? I know, I know, IF, IF, IF. You guys (wlayton) got me curious and after a little research I have found that Oliver is a current member of the San Diego Chargers listed as their 2nd string Free Safety. BTW, in the 15-12 Dawgs win over the NATS in 2006, PO held Calvin Johnson to 2 catches for 13 yards (WOW-I was in the stands that day & PO was on CJ like white on rice), batted down 3 balls, and ensured the win w/a late INT of my favorite GT player ever, Reggie \"throw US the\" Ball.
Other than Oliver, Tim Jennings comes to my mind as our last semi-great CB. I once had high hopes for Thomas Flowers too but injuries definitely set him back. It should be a very competitive & open competition this Spring & Summer for BOTH starting CB spots. Time to step it up Prince Miller or one of the young pups might take away some playing time. No matter who wins the starting job(s), we are gonna be mighty young on the corners. Personally, I think Branden Smith is gonna be the truth. If not this year, in the very near future. How bout it Greg Reid? Where you at?
