I saw this a week or so ago and did not post anything on it as I know she is quite controversial at UGA. Didn't think that can or worms needed to be opened with all the Fire Willie, Bobo,Special Teams Coach and the water boy and all.

Now that it's open I think she had the right intentions from an academic standpoint. I'm a firm believer in integrity and character and to allow CFB players to slide on academics b/c they are athletes is not in line with those beliefs. I don't know all the details or how she went about this, but if she did not go to the President and AD about this before going public she went about this the wrong way.

I was mere pup when all this went down in the early 80's so my knowledge is limited.

I think College Football is better for it even though I thought words I can't say here about her at the time.

The truth is, every academic all-american we have and every player we graduate we owe in part to her.

She was right. That's all I can say. She was right. My grandfather has taught at UGA since 1969 and she's a hero in his house.

RIP, you damn good dawg.

yeah, I was attending UGA when Jan made her stand. I can tell you that, at the time, she was reviled almost universally for what she did. Most of us did not understand her courage or what the outcome of that courage did for the university and the system as a whole. Even though we didn't appreciate it at the time, she bled red and black for all the right reasons. Sad to hear of her passing.
