Here are a few tidbits of information to make our victory Saturday over Auburn seem...well...not so difficult to believe.
1) The last time we lost to Vandy and Kentucky in the same year (1973), we defeated Auburn 28-14 in Athens.
1a) The last time we lost to Kentucky at all, we beat Auburn 56-49 in the "Miracle on the Plains."
1b) The last time we lost to Vandy, we tied Auburn on the Plains 23-23. Not a win, true...but not a loss. And am I right in believing that that tie ended Auburn's 20-game win streak on probation under Terry Bowden?
2) Years ending in the number six are good for Georgia. From the beginning of the rivalry, Georgia has triumphed over Auburn in 1896, 1906, 1926, 1946, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, and 2006. Our only losses were in 1916, 1936 and 1956.
2a) We are UNDEFEATED in the sixth year of even-numbered decades(1906, 1926, 1946, 1966, 1986, 2006).
Given all of these facts, can anybody really have been worried going into Saturday's game?
