Or at least that is still to be determined. Cremecicles appear to have agreed with Lane Kiffin formerly of the Raiders on a deal to become head coach.

Any thoughts out there?

Looks like they will get the deal done early if it sticks so he can get going with recruiting.

DawgnLA . . . Never want to help the \"enemy\" but this is a good choice for UT. Kiffin is a good recruiter, better than good.

I am a Tampa Bay supporter, so the thing that concerns me the most is Lane's Dad, Monte, leaving the Buccaneers and taking over the Vols defense. Scary, Monte is an incredible motivator and has a \"track record\" that any defensive coordinator would be proud of.

The other side of the coin is this . . . . don't really want the SEC to lose any of its respect and stature. Let the best of the best come into the SEC and let's play football. I pull for SEC schools, sometimes do not pull for the leaders of the football programs but there are reasons for that. This could be UT's beginning of putting their program back together.

On another note, really looking forward to Tech and UGA tomorrow, a lot of questions will be answered or looked at and discussed by many of us. Go You Hairy Dawgs!

I thought about the Monte possibility. Many coaches have nothing but great things to say about him. He brings some good experiences from the Pete Carroll regime at USC and from what I understood did a great job in helping with recruiting there.

Funny how he has the possibility to lead a big time CFB program and the first thoughts of many and probably most feared is that of his father as DC.

Would not be surprised to see Ed Orgeron on the staff.

Will be interesting to watch Kiffin put a staff together. Recruiting is half the battle, coaching will determine how they play. What kind of coach is Kiffin? I haven't seen anything from him that would get me excited.

Don't think we have enough with Kiffin as a head coach to tell. That's why I am curious as to what anyone else knows. He has had a good track record in the college ranks from the various positions and teams he has been with.

He seemed to be stifled by Davis at Oakland so it is really hard to tell. All I know is he comes from a great pedigree and is highly touted by his peers. Also he is good enough to have an offer from a school that will not just make offers to anyone for a HC position.

Uncertainty and the unknown is probably the scariest thing! It's only a matter of time before the pundits(so called experts)in the media will start to give their two cents on this. Have to see what those knuckleheads say I guess.
