bcs busters...or whatever they're called was created by charlestondawg
just curious as to the opinion on here of the smaller conference teams that are ranked ahead of us - boise st. and utah come to mind. I'd guess they'd both end up around 7-5 at best if they played in the SEC this season, probably more like 6-6. I know the media likes the cinderella story, but come on, get real.

Well... they are both undefeated and the list of teams that can say that got a bit shorter last night.
As highlights were shown of Utah and all their BCS Buster signs I could only think of what happened to the last BCS Buster team that was all hyped up and came into the Sugar Bowl against an SEC team.
They wouldn't even be worth mentioning if they played in the SEC, Big 12 or Big 10. Mainly because of one major thing. Depth.
Our Dawgs are a true testament of what depth will do for a program!

There is no greater stadium than Sanford, no greater running back than Walker and nothing greater in all of football than being a Georgia Bulldog !

Depending on the pole we have lost to the #1 team in the nation and either #3 or #4 team . Given that we should be ranked higher than these undefeated teams from these weak conferences. Could ANY of themm beated Bama or the Gators ? No way ! Why should we be punished for playing in the nations toughest conference ? In many ways the BCS is a farce, just like the poles when we drop from #1 without losing a game because we dont run up the score on lessor teams. It is either a W or a L , PERIOD . The 1980 NC team didnt blow out alot of the opposing teams but was clearly the nations best. I am ready for the BCS to get a playoff system and we'll see who really deserves it and GO DAWGS, Urinate on the Urine and White !

We had a few blowouts in 1980, as well as a few close games. A good team can win both. And we weren't clearly the nation's best in 1980, just the only undefeated unbeaten and untied team at the end. At least two (non-major) polls gave the 1980 championship to Notre Dame (before the bowls were played, of course), and there are a good many people who will say that Pitt could have murdered us. It doesn't matter, because we didn't lose or tie, won the Sugar Bowl and were awarded the national title.
In terms of a playoff, good luck. The NCAA has no power to mandate anything in FBS competition, and the bowl pot is far too sweet. And no matter what these idiot talking heads say, we don't need a playoff system. We want one, but we don't need one any more than we did in 1980. We don't need a national champion in football. We just want one. It isn't professional sports, folks, and the bowl system is actually the best way to keep it that way.
