My prediction for this weekend

My prediction for this weekend was created by UGAChemDawg
Florida 45
Georgia 31

Dawgs have done nothing to show that they have the defense to stop Florida. The win at LSU only looks impressive because of the score. People see that the 50 point barrier was broken and that's all they care about. Never mind that if not for the two Gable touchdowns, it would have been a tied ballgame.

The fact of the matter is, if the final score had been 28-14 with Georgia scoring even one defensive touchdown, nobody would care and there would be no question going into the Florida game as to who had the upper hand.

Gators pull away early and Dawgs spend the rest of the game playing catchup.

Demps, Harvin, etc all run all over the place.

UGAChemDawg, I think you're forgetting the fact that Florida can't stop anyone either. Ole Miss did score 31 on them.

Kentucky only scored 5, yes, but that's because they can't score on anyone. They scored 27 on Louisville, who's got no defense (as we learned last year), 17 on SCarolina in a loss, 14 on Alabama in a loss, and 21 on Arkansas, whose opponents average 32 points against them, win or lose.

The rest of the Gators' schedule ain't great, either. I know your argument is always, \"Well, who have we played yet?\" but Florida hasn't played anyone either. They defeated Hawai'i, Miami (who we've found out is no one this year), Tennessee (ibid.), Arkansas (getting repetitive here), LSU, and Kentucky. We did the same thing to LSU that they did, actually one point better.

What I'm looking at is quality of loss. They lost to Ole Miss. We lost to the number two team in the country. Florida has defeated exactly one ranked team all year. We've defeated two. We lost to a ranked team. Florida lost to an unranked team, a team who's lost to Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina.

This isn't an elite defense, no. But neither is Florida's. If you look at the last three times we've beaten Florida, it's always been a who-can-outscore-whom-first game. 1997: 37-17. 2004: 31-24. 2007: 42-30.

Under Mark Richt, games we've lost have been low-scoring affairs. 2001: 24-10. 2002: 20-13. 2003: 16-13. 2005: 14-10. 2006: 21-14. I don't see either of these offenses scoring less than 24 in this game, do you?

Look, I don't know who's going to win this year. I knew we were going to beat Florida last year, knew it from the second the 2006 game was a final. I knew we were going to beat Tennessee this year. I knew we'd beat LSU in the 2005 title game. I don't know if we'll beat Florida. But there's no reason for doom and gloom. It's a push at this point. But I'll tell you: we've played better competition, and we've come out on top.

When you're looking at the LSU game, by the way, please remember that, after the score was 24-17, LSU was never close again. All of their points after that were scored in garbage time, after we had at least a 14-point lead. Not that our boys should ever relax on D, but they may have and they could afford it.

\"Dawgs on top! We were gone! We were out of it and gone! I gave up, you did too. Miracle!\"

Excellent rebuttal Dapolla. Their is no arguing the fact that the gators are explosive and dangerous. But hey, we are also. They just seem to be able to put teams away in lieu of letting them hang around as we have for years. The play of our defensive secondary has been disappointing but with the speed we have at linebacker we have the ability to play sideline to sideline and slow them enough to keep us in the game.

Kentucky looked pathetic, especially when a linebacker can't tackle a 180 pound running back or receiver. I'm not sold on the UF defense and needless to say we will see a healthy dose of Moreno and an attempt at ball control to eat the clock and keep UF's offense on the sideline. We just can't let them score every time they touch the ball.

I agree with you about giving up garbage points. We seem to play much better when tied or behind than we do with a 21 or 14 point lead.

The Dawg Fans are already packing out Jax and RV City runneth over. I'm getting pumped and expect to see more crocodile tears streaming down Tebow's face as time expires Saturday afternoon.

GOOOO DAAAWGGGSSSSS!!!!!

The only thing I know is we better play the best we've played in a long time in order to hang w/ that rediculous UF offense. They are gonna score points, probably lots of them. We just better score 1 more.

Chemdawg,
I feel like you are missing a few key elements here that UGA has that UF does not have. Our biggest advantage in this game is an established running game. With two tailbacks running all over the field, and now two HEALTHY fullbacks leading the way
the advantage goes to UGA.Plus we can slip one of the fullbacks out to tight end to pass block,or for a slip screen. This is huge.
The other advantage is that our o-line is giving Stafford time to stand in the pocket & show off that cannon of his.We are not seeing all the dropped balls that we saw last year.
Be positive about what we do have, and don't focus on what some might consider a negative.IF YOU WILL REMEMBER,this is about the same time last year we hit our stride & put it into high gear. UGA-42 UF-31 As always GOOO DAAAAAGS!
