Excellent story Dap, and I AM a gator.
I grew up right outside of Gville in the 60s.
Started going to gator games in 1965. I remember the FIRST
year UGA broke my heart. SOS at QB and we were up 10-0 at
the half and UNDEFEATED till then. Beat UGA with spurrier
at QB and WIN OUR FIRST SEC title. That game ended 27-10
UGA with Bill Stanfill eating us up on Def. From there on
it was UGA busting our reptilian balls everytime we had a serious
shot at glory. I swear that Dooley had some sorta spell over us
or at least those boys he coached. Ive heard he would say \"are you
gonna let those fla surfer boys beat you, if they do we eat bologna
sandwiches and you walk home\" It was BAD..........When Lindsey caught the
ball ( I was at my grandmothers house) my exwife started crying. I have thrown things and worse when Dooley wove his magic and ALWAYS beat us when we SHOULD have won. I teach PE and all those years (late 70s and 80s) I had kids with the doggie stuff on, usually 4 or 5. THEN came the evil genius, our favorite son, our savior and all of that BAD kharma faded away. I tell people Dooley USED up all you luck those years.............The dog stuff vanished in my PE classes. My life suddenly was MUCH better. As far as I am concerned
beating UGA is the best thing that can happen for gators. I will concede that
even when you win now its not nearly as bad as those 60s-70s-80s losses.
Now the reason Im here. I finally found a good dawg forum for talk. That other one dawgvent is bizarre. I think you guys are the best team UF will face.
The QB and Moreno and now the WRs look good. If your O-line block well UF will
have a fit beating you. Fla seems to be hitting its stride right now with all phases but we all know this game makes it all moot. Thow out the records it will be a fight. I am glad its FINALLY a big game for both teams again.
I will say this to you guys. Herschel is the BEST college back I ever saw.
Had he gone straight to the NFL instead of that other league he might have challenged some records. Eric Zeir was the QB I ever saw at UGA, he was tough as nails and a great player. SOS would have had him break all kinds of records. That year with Zeir and the great RB and receiver would have been a championship team had the RB not gone down against UT. No smack talk here.
Just how I see this game history, just from the other side...........
