Yeah, I live in \"Sandhill\". Have you been to VR lately? That place is finally growing!! And let me guess, the only decent grocery store around was Kroger. Do you remember Gregorson's aka warehouse groceries? I remember as a young lad running through the beer cooler. I loved the strips of plastic they had for doors! It was awesome, I used to get in so much trouble for doing that but it was well worth it! ;)

I haven't been back in awhile.
The big deal in Bremen when I was a kid was Sewell Suits and Hubbard Slacks. I guess that dates me. We used to live right on Hwy 27.
Are they still the Bremen Blue Devils?

West & South GA Dawgs everywhere--No wonder I feel right at home on this forum :)

I was born & raised in Newnan, GA, actually, closer to Moreland, GA, birthplace of Lewis Grizzard. Anyways, I haven't been to Villa Rica in years now but what's new? All of our once humble, little, sleepy Georgia towns are growing up too fast. Newnan is WAY PAST gone. Anyways, my parents were born & raised in SE Georgia. Mom is from Pembroke, GA, dad is from from Savannah, GA. My last grandparent (Mema) & my sister both live in Savannah. Papa is buried at beautiful Bonaventure Cemetary. All of my extended family live in Wayne, Bulloch, Bryan, & Chatham counties. Needless to say, I've made the LONG trip from Newnan to Savannah countless times. Hwy. 16 East through Griffin, hop on I-75 down to Macon, then the long haul SE on I-16 w/nothing but pine trees & pastures on either side. I usually take a pit stop in Metter, GA. There is a wonderful Mennonite Farmer's Market if you hang a right off the main road through Metter at Hwy. 46. MY GOSH, those ladies make the BEST Red Velvet & Italian Cream Cake you've ever dreamed of tasting.

Good memories of the long trip to Savannah, but right now, I'm looking forward to getting back home from Cleveland, OH and making an even longer trip down to Jacksonville, FL. I can only hope that this trip is even more memorable than last year's; CELEBRATION penalties or not, like dapolla said, \"F-Florida\"!!!

Yep, still the Blue Devils and they usually have a pretty decent football team and school system. They have 4 laned Hwy. 27 all the way to Rome, except through Cedartown- they built a bypass around them.

I got to get back down there soon. Next time I go to see my Mother in High Shoals, I'm going to have to go to Bremen and LaGrange.

fire_dawg,
Being a fireman and all, I'm sure you've heard about the gas explosion under Berry's Drugstore in 1957. I was in the fourth grade. It was a real tragedy.
