The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

No worries, wlayton. This D has found their identity. They shined on the big stage, and will do it again. Yeah, a couple of lapses, but nothing disasterous. And Coach Richt is \"optimistic\" about Dannell being back. Talk about a hungry Dawg. Bad news for the Gators!!

sadler, you sure you weren't watching our D through red/black glasses? They gave up 497 yards to LSU.....AND on a couple of those drives, they took less than a minute off the clock. They GASHED our DL and made fools of our secondary. Poor, poor D last weekend.

I don't know about the red/black glasses, wlayton. Maybe. But you know me--I'm a bottom line kind of guy. Bottom line--our D got 3 picks, 2 for TD's, one stopped their drive right before the half and got us 3 more points. And when we score 52 points as a team, we are giving them the ball back alot of times to get those 497 yards. We got up by a couple of scores, and the D didn't let them close the gap in the 2nd half. I'll take it. LSU is good, and is going to score points and gain yards, especially at home. The D did what they had to do. Of course they gave up a quick score, but we were still celebrating KM's 68 yarder. They tightened up when they needed to.

Red and Black, Win or Lose

wlayton, sadler has a point. Whether it's 52-38 or 52-3, a W is a W is a W. The fact of the matter is that when LSU tied us 7-7, the D tightened up and the offense made it 21-7. When LSU pulled back within 4, the D tightened up until it was 38-17. Don't forget those mini-games-within-games. Or, if you like, think about it this way: if the D had done in 2005 against Auburn what it did this year against LSU, we win that high-scoring game 30-28.
Don't forget that this is the same defense that allowed 7 points against SCarolina and shut down Arizona State and Tennessee. We're a good team.
That said, we're going to have to outscore Florida. That's just the nature of that particular beast. The only times we've beaten Florida since the '80s have been when we've scored at least 34 (38 in 1997, 34 in 2004, 42 in 2007). They score, and they score well, especially when they don't have a defense. We have to do on offense what we did last week, and we'll be fine.
GO DAWGS!
