Superstitions

I know I have seen threads before on superstitions before games, but I have a few of my own that I just relaized occurred for me in past years that I have adapted again this year.

I was in Athens and Atlanta to witness first hand the dismantling of these Tigers in 2004 and the 2005 SEC title game. As I thought back to these games I realized two things that I never put together until now. Needless to say I have adopted these again this season in hopes that it will bring another victory.

I know I'm nuts, but here they are...

1) Same shirt- The night before each game I wore a Red and Black Nike Georgia polo. I'm wearing it tonight aand thank goddness it still fits the same.

2)Sailor Jerry Rum- I love this stuff and have not had a sip since before the 2005 SEC title game. I actually sampled a bit before the 2004 game as well. I purchased a bottle in Baton Rouge today and will be indulging in a few Sailor Jerry's and cola before kickoff tomorrow.

Yep, I'm that nervous about this game and am having trouble sleeping if you cannot aleady tell by how late this post is!

This is my first LSU game living in Tigerland so I'm sure that explains some of the anxiety, but what this game means in the big picture has me fired up! Hope our boys are just as fired up as we all are and win or lose leaves it all on the field in Tiger Stadium. Geaux Dawgs!

If my superstitions lead to the same results we should be seeing a 40+ point score for the good guys.:woohoo:

My superstitions went down the tubes with the Bama game. Am now establishing new ones.

Sit in the same chair, wear the same hat.

Superstitions are fun. Don't really help, but makes me feel like I make a small contribution to the win. Silly, I know. My family thinks I'm crazy. I am when it comes to Dawg football. :S :woohoo:

Hey, those superstitions turned out to be voodoo gold down in the Bayou! Anything you got that worked last year and in '04 against UF?

My superstitions:

1) Always wear a Georgia t-shirt on Friday, wear a Georgia jersey on gameday.

2) Always have a cigar the morning of the game.

3) Always listen to my Larry Munson \"Glory to Ole Georgia\" playlist either on Friday (on the way to a home game) or the morning of an away game, usually while enjoying my cigar outside my house.

4) When I'm at home during away games, I only drink from cups, glasses and mugs that are University of Georgia items until the game ends.

5) Red or black socks. Georgia shoes. Georgia watch.

6) I rotate my Georgia hats. I wear the same hat all week; that's the gameday hat. Carolina Panthers hat goes on my head for exactly one day, then on Monday I move on to the next Georgia hat. Hats are worn in the reverse order in which I bought them.

7) I do not wear, use or eat anything yellow the week of the Tech game.

8) I avoid spaghetti squash on the day of the Florida game.

9) I never wear a rivalry shirt (UGA vs. UF, UGA vs. GT, etc) on the day of that rivalry. HORRIBLE luck. Did it in 1998 against Tech and in 2005 AND 2006 against Florida. Bad mistake.

10) I refuse to take phone calls at halftime.

I know, I'm psychotic. But I'm pretty sure that many of you have the same types of personal rituals you go through. Go Dawgs, is the bottom line, am I right?

Hey dapolla, I even change the way I'm sitting if we are playing well or stopping them. Elbow on the arm of the sofa, legs crossed this way or that way. Hat on backwards or sideways etc if they are winning. Geez, sometimes my leg is crossed because we are playing well, so I won't un-cross them and they are so numb I wouldn't be able to stand up if I had to.........uh, er, uh, and I KNOW this IS working and is why we are playing well....I just know...

I'll take my hat off if we're not doing well. Or change seats. Or curse. Or pray. I am pretty much a nutcase when we're playing.
It's easier at Sanford Stadium. I'm with people who feel my pain.
