Plant’s Murray Likely Out For The Season

The Plant-Hillsborough rivalry is the county’s oldest, and it’s clearly one of the hardest-hitting, too.

Plant quarterback Aaron Murray is probably out for the season after dislocating his left ankle, and breaking his left fibula, near the end of the second quarter on a hit from Hillsborough’s Victor Bynum with the Panthers leading the Terriers, 28-21.

With Murray’s teammates gathered at midfield and praying for him, Plant’s medical staff popped the ankle back into place, but the fibula fracture is far more serious.

According to Plant coach Robert Weiner, Murray will have surgery next week, which will determine how long his rehab will take.

“It could be six weeks, which means he could be back for the playoffs, or it could be the season,” Weiner said.

Before the injury, Murray had thrown for 205 yards and three touchdowns against Hillsborough. He also had rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown. :(

Wow, very tough thing to happen but he will be ok. Look at Caleb King(and had been voted the top RB in the country his Jr. year), he broke his leg a few games into his senior season as well.

Buc, got a little more info from my guy about injuries, etc this week.

I think Ellerbe, Chandler, and Durham are all out. The bad news from this week is that Quinton Banks reaggravated his MCL injury, and he’ll be out for a month. (I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to get a medical redshirt for him this year.) That leaves us with Byrd and Jones at safety, and that’s really it. Next up would be John Knox or a true freshman, and none of those guys are ready to play in the secondary. In other words, pray that nothing happens to Byrd or Jones. They need to go the rest of the way…

wlayton, you always come up with news, might not like to hear some of it just because I hate to see these young fellows falling.

Going to pass this along. After posting this today, was floored when I got to watch the Hillsborough/Plant high school game. I knew that Murray was a really good football QB. He is everything that has been said about him, nothing short of being terrific. Watched him run what we used to call the \"no huddle\" offense. I mean this sincerely, he ran the 2-minute offense as good as any PRO I have witnessed to this point. I am talking about a young man that makes quick decisions, accurate throws, and scrambles like \"Fran the Man\". Difference betweem Tarkenton and Murray is the arm strength. Aaron has the stronger arm by far. It was sad watching the football game stop, load Aaron on to a cart and leave the field. Must say this, he was smiling and talking with the people in the cart with him. Have read more about AM today, have to agree with you, this young man will be back, and full of p and vinegar. He is a leader, and smart as a whip. He will be in Athens for sure in January, healed and ready for the spring.

Orson Charles, Tight End. Cross your fingers that we get this young man. I know that we have a serious incoming recruit which pleases me. Charles, 6'3\" 230 legitimate 4.5 speed. This young man has the best set of hands that I have seen in a long time. Truthfully, I think that he is a serious prospect as a wideout. I am long winded, maybe too often, but I know talent when I see it. OC will make any coach look good and any program proud to have him.

Message From the Murray Family To The Plant Panther Family.

There has been such an outpouring of love and concern for Aaron via email, text messages and phone calls that I was hoping you could please forward this message to the Panther Football Family.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, love and support. I apologize for sending a thank you in a mass mailing like this rather than individually, but I wanted to get a quick note out letting everyone know that Aaron is going to be just fine. Firstly, congratulations on a great win against Hillsborough; we were able to watch the rest of the game at the hospital.

Aaron will have surgery on his ankle next week once the swelling goes down. If it were up to him, he would have had the surgery last night so that he could return to the team and play sooner, but he wasn’t able to talk the surgeon into it. The expected recovery is about 6 to 8 weeks. Aaron is however, back with the team this morning watch film.

We don’t know if the next time Aaron plays football if he will have on a Panther uniform or a Bulldog uniform, but either way, our hearts will always be with this Panther team.

Thank you again for your prayers, friendship and love,

The Murray family,
Denny, Lauren, Josh, Aaron and Stephanie

Sounds like a good family any college would be proud of. Good thing we get them.

flyindawg, been around the Dawgs for a long time. I seriously hope that OC signs on with UGA. Promise. . . .he is the real deal. He could add 10/20 pounds and still be a wideout. Did not want to say this, but he is the \"new wave\" of TE's or Wideouts. Ready for this . . . . not unlike a certain receiver that played for the Bees that now plays for Detroit. Will say it again, someone is going to get a special person. Keep working on him Aaron, you know, I think that I know. Go Dawgs! :woohoo: wlayton, only you can use more than one. Check this young dude out, with your connection. SPECIAL . . . .Again, GO DAWGS!
