knowshown moreno: how did he end up at UGA?

hello from new jersey,

this is my first post here. i admire the SEC, but other than following the scores or occasionally watching a game on TV, i never followed UGA prior to Knowshown Moreno arriving at Athens. now here i am subscribed to dawgs.con

my question: Given that UGA rarely brings in players from the Northeast, I would be interested to know how did Moreno (and for that matterm the other new jersey player, kade weston) ended up at UGA? Given the HS talent available in Georgia and other traditional SEC recruiting areas, how did he even get on the UGA radar screen in the first place? how were the georgia recruiters able to evaluate KM against Georgia players when new jersey HS football would be pretty much terra incognita?

however he got there, its obviously worked out fine for UGA and KM himself. does this mean that UGA will start expanding its recruiting base to bring ini more plaers from \"non-traditional\" areas?

I know that he and Kade Weston were friends, and Kade convinced him to check out UGA. He took a TRAIN down to go to a camp, and Richt didn’t even know who he was when he showed up. He obviously learned who he was at the camp, and the recruiting got very intense after that…

Yeah, I doubt that KM will be taking any more train rides. It was like a fourteen hour ride.

From what I understand it all started at the camp CMR and the GA staff hold every year for high school players. Kade Weston had a big role in convincing KM to join him at the program. Knowshon is here for all te right reasons as well. He truly believes in the Staff, Team and Family type atmosphere CMR instills. I think his Grandmother also had some ties to Georgia either living or having lived there at one point in time. She knew what UGA was all about too. There is a nice article about all of this in the 8/25 edition of ESPN the Magazine that has KM on the cover. It made for some good reading for me at an airport one afternoon.

Also, KM uncle lives in Douglasville- according to the AJC.
