The bad news first:
Vince Vance is out for the season. These are all freak injuries and I wish they would stop happening to us, but what can you do?
The good news:
Kiante Tripp is moving back there. He's already familiar with the position, so it's not as if we're breaking in a brand new pup. Aron White proved he's at least serviceable at tight end against UT, so the loss shouldn't be absolutely devastating.
More good news:
Since 2001 (when we beat Tennessee and they still won the East), the winner of the UGA-UT game has failed to reach the Georgia Dome just once, in 2006, when Florida won everything. Think about that. It's a nice little trend. You might say, \"But Tennessee is having a down year!\" Our last SEC title came in 2005, when Tennessee finished 5-6 and lost to Vandy.
More good news:
Knowshon has yet to hit his stride. He's averaging 97.8 yards per game, 5.8 per carry, and he STILL hasn't hit it. Part of this is due to the fact that we just don't have an offensive line, and part of it has had to do with the fact that Brannan Southerland was out for so long. Anybody notice that the team with the #3 rushing defense in the country gave up 101 yards to Knowshon in the same game that #36 returned? I don't think that's a coincidence. Brannan is a blocking force, and having him in front of KnoMo helps immeasurably.
More good news:
Georgia didn't move in the polls. For a team that started the year #1 and then moved down to #3 without losing a game, to then be jumped by Florida, BYU and (retch!) Oklahoma State when we do win is a nice little respect card to play.
More good news:
LSU lost to the first good team it faced, and lost handily, to a Florida team whose offense isn't even as good as it was last year. Do we still have to be afraid of their defense? Yes. Are they an unstoppable killing machine? No.
Even more good news:
Florida lost to a bad team in an infinitely winnable game.
The BEST news:
We finally,
FINALLY beat Tennessee. There should be more celebration of that on this site! I don't care if it's by thirty over the defending national champs or by one over a winless Vol squad, they have taken it to us the past two years and it's time to CELEBRATE!!!!
